      Yea Ron

that spot in 1-2 is a real tooth breaker. I would strattle it, but if you miss that line it will remind you how rough it can be. Actually the whole track needs attention, but 1-2 needs it before the new season.
Hope to see you there and at the next Blast.

I suspect the go-kart track is about my level, but I'm really looking forward to it just to be out there and see how fast all you guys really are. I'm determined to get onto the real tracks at some point too, even if it's pestering someone just to get a ride around in the pace truck before practice or something!

I actually took the opportunity to stand in the middle of the corners at NSS on Saturday afternoon and watch the practice from a lot closer. It gives you a very different perspective from sitting in the stands, and I think I've started to figure out the line you take now. Still can't figure out how a car would feel on that banking though, as I've never stood on a racetrack with that before moving here, let alone driven on one!

I *did* manage to wheel spin it on its way out of the station, but sadly had to stop accelerating when we got up to 15mph...

I hope you enjoy writing for Orlando and New Smyrna Andy. I did for many years and it was always a pleasure. Now I write for Volusia Speedway Park and have my own dirt website for all the dirt tracks in Florida. My new goal is for everyone to know the dirt drivers like they do the asphalt drivers and with hard work, I think I can do it. But you are writing for a great group of guys/gals, I know because I did it since 1997 or so. Started out just writing a race report for karnac and then Terry Roberts asked me to write for both tracks which I did.

Eventually I ended up working at New Smyrna and driving from Merritt Island to New Smyrna everyday and then went to work at Orlando only. But it was a great ride and I enjoyed writing for both tracks. Now my heart is in dirt but I am glad you will taking care of them.

                  Good luck.

Thanks, Jane - that means a lot. My main aim in all of this is to write reports that are fair, accurate and encourage people to come out to the track. Given everything that the drivers are risking out there just to entertain people like me, then anything I can do to bring a crowd in to watch them I'll try and do.

To be fair, I *did* used to race go-karts back in the UK, albeit grasstrack go-karts out in open fields of flat, grass oval tracks...
