What is your all time favorite Halloween memory?? Was it when you were a child or was it when you had children/grandchildren?? What is your favorite memory when it comes to Halloween which is this Saturday???
Since I have really never been with any of my grandchildren for Halloween because of distance, my favorite memory that always comes into my mind on Halloween is of my granny, my dad's mom. I was blessed to live right down the hill from her for the first 10 years of my life. She was the small town's HALLOWEEN QUEEN in Mendenhall, Mississippi where I grew up.
Each Halloween, a month or so before, she would start ordering candy and little favors for Halloween. I would spend hours making up the goodie bags for her before Halloween night where she would have punch, goodie bags, and carmel apples and cookies for everyone. Everyone came to her house if no place else in my hometown.
Then Honey, my granny's collie, would go out trick or treating with me, my brother and my cousins never leaving our sides all night. We had a blast.
When we moved from Mendenhall to Raymond, Mississippi for my dad to work at Hinds Jr. College, all the Halloween fun was gone until I had my own children. The year I moved from Florida to Ohio for my ex-husband's work, was on Halloween weekend and my then 5 year old son tried to Trick or Treat the motel where we were staying. Of course it did not work but he tried. I don't think I was ever more upset than that night because he was so disappointed but we had to move and that was when.
So what are your favorite memories of Halloween??? I know you have some.
