How did I win on being "closest"? Was the Trentham answer correct, or was it the Jeff Purvis/Eddie Mercer #72 part that you were looking for?

There hasn't been one on dirt. Joe was the closest but has press credentials already. 1wild girl asked was it purvis so you came the closest.

Nobody is more excited about the Powell Memorial more than me! This year it will start out as a $5000.00 to win race. My long term plan is to turn it into the states premier most prestigious dirt late model race. What a great tribute to the Powell family! This years race is going to be off the hook! Side by side, sideways, left front tire in the air on the edge of your seats race.
Free ticket to this years race for the first person that posts the winner of the first Powell Memorial.(it was on dirt)

Don't be confused Jim. There have been no Powell Memorials on dirt. A lot of speculation either way but this will be the first year on dirt.

OK. I was wrong on the dirt part. I should have checked the facts myself instead of listening to a couple of people who I thought knew what they were talking about. So hate me. I had the correct date and winner, just that it wasn't on dirt.

Don't worry your not the only one confused on this one...lol,I thought it was dirt then too,But we have been to alot of dirt & asphalt races thru the years so it's kinda hard to remember everything
