  • Governor's Cup - BIG NEWS!

Ricky Brooks will be Head-Tech Inspector for the 44th running of the Florida Governor’s Cup 200 on Saturday, November 21, 2009. Cars will be tech’d based on the current FASCAR Rule Book and the ABC Body Rules will be enforced per templates. Any car not running the ABC Body configuration will add 50lbs. No high down-force bodies.

Pre-Tech for Super Late Models will begin Friday afternoon, with Practice Sessions for the Super Late Models scheduled throughout the night to coincide with Friday Night’s racing program.

There will be a Racer's Swap Meet on Saturday November 21st at the corner of SR44 and 415 from 9-2pm. If you have any questions or would like more information, please contact Buzzy from Funk Racing Supply at 407-832-5237. Vendors should arrive early for set-up.

We look forward to seeing all of the best Super Late Models from around the Southeast here to take part in the festivities for this year’s Governor’s Cup.
Tires for New Smyrna Speedway are provided by: Donnie Nerone Services

We would like to thank, among others, Marty Pierce for helping to promote this race in the Panhandle and throughout the Southeast.

A breathless announcement about who the tech man is , instead of the race itself getting top billing ? And why is Mr. Brooks big news ? What happened to the tech men you had ?

      Maybe...

...some racers think tech is biased towards some of the locals (Anderson, Rogers etc.) and they want to bring in a tech man that has no favorites? Don't be so picky AJ, I'm glad they're giving notice so far in advance so I can make plans and start saving my pennies up!

        Don't be an ass Aj

He is the tech inspector at the Snowball Derby who Dq'd Steven Wallace and Krybaby Busch.

From my understanding with this guy the rules must be followed, no exceptions no matter who your daddy is. No 1/8" too wide or too low. No ounce too light here or there.

Amen to running it on Sunday afternoon. Its ridiculous to sit there and freeze your butt off at 10PM Sat. When they could run it in the warmth of Sunday PM. We have sent numerous petitions and letters to no avail. Looks like the track would want to be more customer oriented. I guarantee the stands would be packed.

What does it pay to win? Is it enough for anyone to pull to from outside Florida? No offense to the local guys but I still recall the old Super 8 races and the fields they drew.

I think last years race was the coldest day of the year. My spotter in the tower was shivering so bad that I couldn't understand anything he was saying. I don't understand why Orlando doesn't switch to Sunday afternoons either.

Sounds good to me, anything they can do to try and get some of the magic that they have up at five flags would be well worth it. I think it starts with rules and enforcement then do something to incent guys to cmon down and race.

Glad to see them do something to try to boost things up.

Spotter?! In a sportsman? Hell, i didn't even run mirrors when i run sportsman LOL.

Turn the radio off and you'll run much better......trust me.

I tried spotter racing 1 time and pulled the plug on about the 5th lap.
Normalcy is a myth. what is perfectly normal for the Cheetah, Becomes absolute chaos for the Antelope.

Last year's race was also on the same Saturday as the Bethune-Cookman/Florida A&M football game in the Citrus Bowl in Orlando. Took me almost three freakin' hours just to get THROUGH Orlando on I-4 in that damn traffic. I got to the track as the leaders were taking the halfway flag.

Put the 200 back on Sunday afternoon. Saturday night, run qualifying to set the heat races - fast guys in the back; heat races to set the field for the 200; and the support races.

Why run tire trials at all? There would be no incentive to run fast. Just run heat races.
