  • Spec"tater" races v.s. Strictkly stock

I was just thinking that the tater races pay in total off $300.00 to winner if he/she whens both 5 lap dash for cash and the bracket race session. $200 for the 5 lapper and $100 for the bracket race. Now I know it's fun to watch and it's used for intermission "time burner". but if FASCAR has the means to have a payout for spec races why is there no payout for strictly stock.I Know someone will say "its a trophy class only" but a little more incentive will always make drivers happier. I know personally it cost me $60 to get there and get in.

This the finish from 6/20. 13 cars showed up to race, and say they all have a FASCAR License. $20 for one car one driver and that's just say the that nobody else came in the the driver. 20x13=260 so why couldn't FASCAR use that money or 1/2 off that to give strickly stock a payout? Is FASCAR that...greedy? Alburndale, Citrus and Bronson all have $100 to win bone stock class. Why couldn't FASCAR do the same 1.$100 2.$50 3.$25. it sounds reasonable to me. Also if only 3or4 cars show up that payout wouldn't work but it would be a start. just want to throw this out there to see what some people thought about it.

Probably because it's people like you that ruin it. Strictly stock should be used as an entry into racing. Guys like you and Todd should move up to superstock if you want a payout. Um DUH!!!!

Hey Buddy thanks for your support. I would love to move up but money is not good enough for me to do that, so if I want to race, strictly stock is the only class that is affordable for me. Again thanks for your support!

I like seeing them out there week in and week out but I hate seeing the same people win every week. All the classes have gotten out of control with the amount of $$$ being spent and that is really hurting racing. A few years ago Williams car could easily been converted to a competitive super stock. Both classes are completely out of hand now.

I am now sure about what is going on now with spectator racing but a long time ago at NSS there was a special spectator race that was called "Beat the Corvette". Older gentleman was the one driving the corvette and he put up the money and trophy to be beaten. Unfortunately he put his pretty blue car in the wall front straightaway and my hubby won that event.

How about getting people to take up donations nightly and put the money together to help pay the strictly stock drivers or get someone to sponsor the class? Just a thought...

i agree with edm to me super stocks are just a old fascar sportsmans now...
it cost to much to make a strickly stock into a super stock atleast if you want a winning car.fascar gets good car counts in strickly stock when they do the 25 lap races with a payout. i bet they could get all them cars every week if they had some kind of payout.lets face it there is no cheap class anymore.
and backdoor this class is still the lowest in cost and great for anyone looking to get into racing. id be willing to move up but it would take a sponsor or driving someones car for them to make that happen.

I have ran my car "a strictly stock" in the super stock 50 at Orlando and was lapped on lap five. It would take about 3,000 just for a cheap motor and roughly 1,500 wheels, tires and set up parts

"A few years ago Williams car could easily been converted to a competitive super stock".

I got some old programs from when my father was racing both tracks every weekend for FASCAR. I had to go back to August 15, 1979. Frank Wood qualified for a 50 lapper at 21.16. I'm still two seconds slower then that.

A few years is more like thirty years.

                  I got this from Wikipedia.

Engines were carryover from 1974 except for the addition of GM's High Energy electronic ignition being made standard equipment. However, power ratings for all engines were decreased due to the addition of the catalytic converter. The 454 CID V8 no longer offered on California cars, leaving the 400 CID four-barrel the top engine in the Golden State. The base 350 CID two-barrel was rated at 145 hp (108 kW) (standard in 49 states), the 350 CID 4-barrel was rated at 155 hp (116 kW) (availavble only in California), the 400 CID 4-barrel 175 hp (130 kW), and the 454 CID 4-barrel 215 hp (160 kW) (now equipped with single exhaust). A three-speed manual transmission was standard equipment with the base 350 CID V8 used in 49 states and California-only 350 four-barrel V8. The Turbo Hydra-Matic optional and a required option for the 400 and 454 V8s. Chevrolet sources, however, report that virtually all 1975 Monte Carlos were equipped with the Turbo Hydra-Matic transmission, which became standard equipment for 1976

wait till I find 400 or 454, factory equipment they cant deny it right?

                    go with the 400

The 454 is WAY too heavy.

another problem with car count is other stock v8 classes at other tracks allow a 350 in a metric car and 400s in cars with 112" wheel base or bigger and nss and osw say you have to have a 305 in a metric and max of a 350 in a big body...i have a 305 in my metric car that is good enough for me but they should update the rules so others can run from another track without being DQed.

Back on topic, I don't agree that $100 payout should be paid to the winner every week. I am thinking of something more interesting like having a fan pick a number out of a hat for a finishing position and that driver wins the $100. That way even someone with the "strictliest" of strictly stocks has a chance to win the money, plus it involves the fans.
