Tampa, FL - Syndicated radio talk show host 'Bubba The Love Sponge' has cast a bit of doubt on NASCAR's drug testing policy. Most people affiliated with the sport of NASCAR, including myself, doubted Jeremy Mayfield's story when he was busted for failing NASCAR's drug policy three weeks ago. Mayfield swore up and down that he was innocent when the rest of main stream media and race fans across the country called him a drug addict. Now, it seems he may be telling the truth!
Heard on his syndicated morning radio show in major markets, and across the country on Sirius/XM channel 101 'The Howard Stern Network, 'Bubba The Love Sponge' wondered aloud if there could have been any truth to Mayfield's claims that a combination of drugs triggered the Sprint Cup driver's positive test for Methamphetamine.
Mayfield claims an over-the-counter allergy medication and another drug which was prescribed by his physician to treat ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) caused the failed test. So, the infamous shock jock did what a shock jock does...he digested the same drugs Mayfield has claimed were the cause of his failed drug test. And guess what? He came away with the same results Mayfield did.
Bubba digested Claritin-D and Adderall, the same drugs Mayfield claimed to have taken, and then took a drug test just as Mayfield had weeks earlier. When the results came in, Methamphetamine showed as a positive just as it did for Mayfield even though Bubba never came within five-hundred miles of the illegal drug.
Now, one has to wonder, is Mayfield telling the truth or is NASCAR's drug test flawed? 'Bubba The Love Sponge' has at least given NASCAR good reason to take another look at it's screening process, and he has also given Mayfield some powerful evidence in his quest to challenge the mighty sports organization in a court of law. - John 'Captain Thunder' Nevins - www.CaptainThunderRacing.com
MORE: Bubba will re-do the test Friday at 6:00 AM e.s.t. on his syndicated morning radio show. He will also be video taping the test to prove the process and the results. First, he will take the test to prove he is clean of Methamphetamine. Then, he will digest the Adderall and the Claritin-D and take the test again to show the positive Methamphetamine results.
