  • Mayfield Telling The Truth?

Tampa, FL - Syndicated radio talk show host 'Bubba The Love Sponge' has cast a bit of doubt on NASCAR's drug testing policy. Most people affiliated with the sport of NASCAR, including myself, doubted Jeremy Mayfield's story when he was busted for failing NASCAR's drug policy three weeks ago. Mayfield swore up and down that he was innocent when the rest of main stream media and race fans across the country called him a drug addict. Now, it seems he may be telling the truth!

Heard on his syndicated morning radio show in major markets, and across the country on Sirius/XM channel 101 'The Howard Stern Network, 'Bubba The Love Sponge' wondered aloud if there could have been any truth to Mayfield's claims that a combination of drugs triggered the Sprint Cup driver's positive test for Methamphetamine.

Mayfield claims an over-the-counter allergy medication and another drug which was prescribed by his physician to treat ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) caused the failed test. So, the infamous shock jock did what a shock jock does...he digested the same drugs Mayfield has claimed were the cause of his failed drug test. And guess what? He came away with the same results Mayfield did.

Bubba digested Claritin-D and Adderall, the same drugs Mayfield claimed to have taken, and then took a drug test just as Mayfield had weeks earlier. When the results came in, Methamphetamine showed as a positive just as it did for Mayfield even though Bubba never came within five-hundred miles of the illegal drug.

Now, one has to wonder, is Mayfield telling the truth or is NASCAR's drug test flawed? 'Bubba The Love Sponge' has at least given NASCAR good reason to take another look at it's screening process, and he has also given Mayfield some powerful evidence in his quest to challenge the mighty sports organization in a court of law. - John 'Captain Thunder' Nevins - www.CaptainThunderRacing.com

MORE: Bubba will re-do the test Friday at 6:00 AM e.s.t. on his syndicated morning radio show. He will also be video taping the test to prove the process and the results. First, he will take the test to prove he is clean of Methamphetamine. Then, he will digest the Adderall and the Claritin-D and take the test again to show the positive Methamphetamine results. There's a place in the United States where there aren't any of (the) illegal drug within 500 miles?

And THAT is the reason Bubba is the man.

As much as I hate Bubba I will agree that he finally did something right.

        Mayfield is not a druggie.

I am glad someone provide him innocent because I did not believe it for a second. A guilt man does not fight like he did. I hope Napcar corrects their mistake and not fire him because it is one of their big sponsors and they dont want to make the sponsors product look bad.

I for one wouldn't believe Bubba and that statement(he hasn't been within 500 miles of drugs)! Nor would I listen to his show.

                  Two Questions

                  1) Why would Bubba have to wait until Friday to do another test? (clear the system perhaps?)

                  2) The "Certified Testing" is testing at a certain level (not just for the presence of whatever). Everything needs to be "Apples to Apples" or "Oranges to Oranges", can't combine one with the other.

Just thought of something else - Will Bubba submit to a hair sample drug test (RIGHT NOW - NO DELAY) by a certified testing facility.

holy crap bat man were is tooth ferry

why don't they just go down to orient road jail and pick out six winoes and give them the test

i really wish he did not do any thing wrong but in our type of work we are in there is not a day that goes by that we don't do drug stops and calls

you would never believe the type of people from air plane pilots to lawyers to judges not one person would you believe would do it that does it

and he probably ain't guilty but do you think if the pope took the test or queen elizabeth or prince charles took it they are probably the only one's in whole world that could get him off bubba tha love sponge i know him from east bay and it's cool he stepped up to plate but it ain't gonna work just him

I've Been Involved with Fed Drug Testing Procedure's

Since the original ruling came out and then the NEW and Improved Program of Jan 1991.
The testing that NASCAR is using is perhaps different from the Federal Program, However, one needs to know that there are many levels used for testing. There are split samples (of the original drawn samples).
It is a nice thing Bubba is trying to do for a fellow racer, however, the bottom line is the results that NASCAR has (not the results BUBBA has come up with).
I hope Mayfield is found "Non-Positive" in the end, but that remains to be seen. Testing facilities tend to know what they are doing.
Random testing in NASCAR is a great step in the right direction, I hope they also do "POST ACCIDENT" testing as well (that would increase the chances of getting the POSITIVES out of racing). Can't do everyone "POST ACCIDENT", but they sure could do anyone who's car is towed off the track as a starting point.
THOSE ARE MY FEELINGS AND I'M STICKING TO THEM !

                        hmmmmmm

i have always liked Jeremy. i would bet he wasnt thinking of much else but to relieve a cold or allergies. my allergies have been horrible. stuffy nose etc. right now Benedryl is my best friend!
however... NASCAR has strict rules about drugs... as they should... if you read the medication warnings, just about every kind suggests not driving... they can cause drowsiness... jeremy has been racing for many years and he should have asked what he could take and still race. i bet they all do now...any kind of drug can effect driving and when you have over 40 cars door to door doing nearly 200 MPH you need 150% of your senses.
i think Jeremy has already paid for his mistake.
between Mayfield and Long... hmmmmmm some unfairness i think! the punishments are not befitting the errors in judgement....
the jury is out on Bubba... lol is it possible to be like him and be straight? just kiddin...
