  • VSP - ridiculously efficient show

Saw ~70 dirt late models run qualifying heats, heats, b-mains, a-main. Big blocks ran the same deal and I am home by 11:15...That is impressive. I really dont know how many races I watched tonight!

Great racing. Dirt racing just provides action when the track is good. No way to avoid it it seems. The track held up pretty good, but by feature time it was pretty used up. They did buy some time by stopping to do some work on it and watered it in. No real big wrecks. Show flew by.

Some things that they are doing that work:

Heats are lined up and ready to roll when they hit the track, they get 3/4 of a lap then the green flies. No wasted laps. Sounds minor, but when you run 20 races, it adds up.

Quick adjustments to lineups when necessary - no 5-10 laps wasted to get bubbajoe into 10th instead of 11th.

Quick post race interviews - and while that is happening the next feature is lined up and ready to roll.

Following a yellow, they kill the lights and get em running without a lot of extra laps.

That's been going on all week at Volusia. That's why I got so upset at NSS. They should go see how it's done. WTG Volusia. billy

Last two weeks...and like Billy the same reason I didn't appreciate NSS's effort either.

Good show last night at VSP.

one thing that helped move it along, blending hot laps and qualifing with the use of transponders.although Dennis Erb's transponder signal went out so they had to do it the old fashioned way.Vic Coffey almost wiped out a few cars when lining up the late model feature on the back stretch.John Henry had a shot in turn four during hot laps too.

I saw that thing with Vic Coffey, you know he was having an "Oh sh!t!" moment..Did a good job binding it up in between the cars without hitting anything.

I finally got my Towel last night, I kept forgetting to ask for one on the way in, perfect for sitting on.

I think asphalt will always lag in some areas - like cleanup for liquids, but the other pieces are bigguns and should be looked at!

This might be a little late but I was there Wed. night also. Let me tell you one thing. I've worked at many different tracks in Florida and Wednesday night show was the best that I have ever seen. That many cars and to be done when they were, I was impressed. Also the racing was great!!!. My only complaint was the 50/50 tickets. A certain person told me that her tickets were "special" and she was selling the winner...........By the numbers, I was only off by 400,000. LOL.......
