Saw ~70 dirt late models run qualifying heats, heats, b-mains, a-main. Big blocks ran the same deal and I am home by 11:15...That is impressive. I really dont know how many races I watched tonight!
Great racing. Dirt racing just provides action when the track is good. No way to avoid it it seems. The track held up pretty good, but by feature time it was pretty used up. They did buy some time by stopping to do some work on it and watered it in. No real big wrecks. Show flew by.
Some things that they are doing that work:
Heats are lined up and ready to roll when they hit the track, they get 3/4 of a lap then the green flies. No wasted laps. Sounds minor, but when you run 20 races, it adds up.
Quick adjustments to lineups when necessary - no 5-10 laps wasted to get bubbajoe into 10th instead of 11th.
Quick post race interviews - and while that is happening the next feature is lined up and ready to roll.
Following a yellow, they kill the lights and get em running without a lot of extra laps.
