What do you think about a Hialeah reunion???

We all remember the days of Hialeah Speedway, and we miss the action that was once the norm there! We are planning the Marion Edwards Memorial this month at Orlando SpeedWorld. So far All but one brother will be in attendance!

I would like to say THANK YOU to the Edwards family for the opportunity to bring this race back and I really hope that we can make the family proud!

I know that there will be a lot of folks here from the old Hialeah days, what do you say about making it an event??? Remeber racing the way it was!!!

How many former Hialeah drivers are still in the area????

Billy Barnwell and Buddy Griffin are both living nearby Speedworld. Dana Barlow needs no excuse to go to a race, and you are forgetting Hialeah's most famous alumnus ever....ME!

I think it is a great idea, but I hope we don't over-do the whole reunion idea.

Rusty, to further celebrate the Hialeah legacy, you could:
-hire small bands of urban youths to burglarize cars in the parking lot
-construct temporary nudie bar at speedway entrance
-require every person within a 10 mile radius of Speedworld to speak Spanish only
-designate turn 4 grandstands "marijuana smoking permitted"
-every hauler entering the pits must posess a pistol
All fooling aside, Hialeah Speedway was THE GREATEST track I've ever been to. Thank you and good luck with the continuation of the Marion Edwards race. I can still remember heading down 441 or Palmetto Expressway onto Okeechobee Road and smelling the exhaust from the Cam 2 racing fuel a mile away. Hialeah was like an oasis in the middle of urban blight.

You know who would be facinating to see? The announcers: Bill Chesser, Lee Gregory, Marty Little and the voice of racing in my early years, Chip Greene!

Maybe I am wrong but didn't Pete Willoughby also race there (Barry's dad). I know when the Florida Mini Stock Challenge first started, there were quite a few drivers who came from there also to race. Just let me think and it will come to me but right now my brain is out of order. Oh yea - there is a Southern Sportsman racer from there that use to race every year at New Smyrna - T.C. McElyea in his Late Model.

I never got to go to Hialead but always wanted to but it would be great seeing and having some of those drivers at SpeedWorld on the 24th.

Come on guys, join us the 24th for a great night. I promise you won't be disappointed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
