  • Bring on the Rays!

I know there's some fellow New Englander's on this board... How bout them Red Sox Bring on Tampa!

ALCS should be a good one, or four, or seven... Go BoSox!

(okay, I know... not Racing related... but oh well!)

No, no, no, no. I need the Rays to win for the simple fact that I can then drive over to Tampa and watch the Phillies demolish them live and in-person to win the World Series.

    Nothing will be sweeter.

Except perhaps for Boneman entering his car (with no modifications) in the Governors Cup and winning with a dramatic last lap pass of Tim Russell.

Y'all need to go back where you came from. Neither scenario is gonna work out for you, so go back up north and cry in the cold.

        well!!!

and yes I know, that is a deep subject. but the only scenario that may be possible is Boneman beating Tim...

just don't tell anyone that I stopped by and put a "fixed" Super Late engine in his car when he was at work...

        ROFLMAO

        Have a great day all!!!

That cracks me up... one good season and fans come out of the woodwork... I've been to many games in what they call a stadium down there in St. Pete (the trop.) and EVERY time, Rays fans have been outnumbered by fans of the opposing team... sometimes as much as 3-1 it seems... I even watched a Ray get boo'd for hitting a Grand Slam in his own home field... I used to refer to the Trop as 'Fenway South', cuz I always felt at home when I went there...

Oh well... either way, it will be a good series... but I'm gonna stick with the defending champs!

I also have been to many games at the Trop and also been outnumbered by the opposing teams fans. But I also did this at the old Sombrero to watch the Bucs fail year after year. Also sat in the Trop (then the Thunder Dome) and also the Forum to watch the Lightning get their asses handed to them year after year but one thing has come out of the Bucs and Lightning were World Champions. Is this year going to be the same for the Rays? Maybe. But one thing I have seen out of all these years of supporting my local teams (including the 5 time Champions the Storm) is that some people will come out for winners but there are pleny of us who support the teams where we have chosen to live and some just can't let go of the where they were. As far as 08 baseball playoffs? You should have never traded the Babe.....

              Go Rays!!!

I do support the Rays... everytime the Sox come to town... My ticket money that I pay to sit in that 'stadium' [term used loosely of course] goes straight to the Rays.

I am happy that the Rays finally got ownership/management that wants to win and is willing to do what it takes to win... used to be the AL East was Boston, NY and Toronto... it's nice to see Baltimore and Tampa making it more interesting in the toughest division in all of Baseball...

                GO SOX!

It's like a Van Hagar song for me....

I'm a Red Sox fan but also pull for the Devil Rays whenever possible. Yes, I said Devil Rays. I can never understand why teams feel the need to change their names. Anyhoo, I too would go to the Trop to watch my Red Sox kick the crap out of the TB in the old days....but that's just not the case anymore, is it? Joe Madden has turned these boys around and got them on track. Part of me says I hope it's their turn this year. Either way, I'll be happy, I guess.

What I can't understand is why yer dissin' the Trop, Mark....it may be a little small but jeez...what could beat sitting in the A/C with semi-comfortable seats and bathrooms, food/beer kiosks and lots of eye candy within a stone's throw?
Historic and awe-inspiring as Fenway is....the seating sucks, the bathrooms are antiquated hog troughs and when you leave the stadium you better be packing something other than a Big Papi mini bat from the gift shop for the subway ride home.
I dunno but I like watching a ball game in mid July without being squished up against some screaming, cussing and sweating Sox fan who smells like the stale Sam Adams he spilled on your wife and kids right after he watched Manny hit one out for the Dodgers on the big screen.
                  That's just me, though. lol

By the way, NOT a Manny fan....was happy to see him shipped far, far away.

I've been to a LOT of Baseball Stadiums and the Trop [to me] is the worst... maybe it's all the concrete... it just doesn't feel like baseball when you're there... hell I'd take Tinker Field over the Trop...

Im hoping the Rays don't keep this up though... used to be the cheapest ticket in Baseball... sat 4 rows behind homeplate one night (in the comfy seats) for $68.00 I paid on ticketmaster the night before... and that was a Sox game... I don't know any other stadium in the Majors where that would be possible!

As for Manny... as much as I loved seeing him go... I hated seeing his Bat go... although... Jason Bay has been money... he proved that last night!

As for Fenway... there is no place like it on the planet! one of the oldest, most historic and storied Satdiums in all of Sports! you know from the second you walk in that place... it is time to play-ball!

I have been praying for the past few years for the Cubs to make it though... what better backdrop could you have for a World Series... Fenway & Wrigley... now that would be awesome!

There hasn't been a REAL sport in that building since the World of Outlaws ran a 2-day show way back when!

Worst baseball stadium? I can settle this with two words - Veterans Stadium.

Horrible playing surface, bad part of town, you needed binoculars, concrete pillars obstructing view of the field, concrete everything, the Vet had it all, including a judge to arrest fans on the spot.

Yup, we love our Phillies up there...

                            Actually.....

I confess...I've only been to two major league baseball parks....Fenway and the Trop!
Just never been that keen on seeing baseball live.....would rather watch it from my sofa where the free (or at least less expensive) beer is even closer to me than the Trop.....speaking of close...the Trop is only 15 minutes from my house so that helps......

I was in awe at Fenway though. Sat about 30 rows up from 3rd base. had a great view of the Monster and my boy Trot Nixon kicked one out. But the problem with old, historic ballparks is....well....that they are old and historic*.

Cheap tickets to see the Sox though are probably gonna be a thing of the past now, that's for sure....dang it.

Frass....you're just mad cuz they canceled the synchronized gymnastics competition and you had to eat your tickets......don't worry, I hear the International Association of Strategic Board Games is holding their world championships there. So warm up your pocket protector and your patent leather shoes........gonna be a helluva show!

Who says St. Pete can't compete on a world class level.

*moldy smelly outdated cramped overpriced......take yer pick.....lol

Some years ago, used to wake up on any given Sunday morning, throw a pot of coffee in the hopper, and haul a$$ to Charlotte Co. Speedway or Desoto Speedway for a great Afternoon of races. I really did, lots of times.
Had to change, somewhat those Sunday Afternoon Matine' shows to the Tropicana Stadium for a show. Not a complaint in the world whatsoever by the kids (at that time) and myself. Had a great time, every time we were there. Lots of memories, for sure. But it wasn't quite like going to Wrigley Field (or as Jeff Gordon called it, Wrigley Stadium).
Good times at the Ballparks, but I miss old times at the Sunday afternoon Shows at Desoto and Charlotte County Speedway when they used to have them. I wonder if those Sunday Matine' Racing shows will ever return.
