You guys need to figure out something with the modifieds . Bronson had more modifieds for their 50 lapper . Face it big motor mods are not working at new Smyrna . You really should think about a E-mod class for next year .

E mods were only getting 6-8 cars. And 2 of the cars that went to Bronson normally race at nss
lets all take a long ride on a short bus.

I quit fishing because no one was standing at the docks handing out money when i got back, why did you quit racing?

You better go back and look at old results the last osw race 19 e mod showed up . And at NSS it was average 12 showing up for a regular race . Out of all those Emods only 4 of them are running with big mods what happen to the rest of those cars where are they parked ? And those cars that went to Bronson hasn't raced NSS at all this year fact. The 6/8 cars has always been the big motor class fact. Oh wait last night they had 7 for a 50 lapper fact again.

E mods only started showing up at nss in bigger numbers when they found out that they were being dropped .
Drivers only want to support their class or track after it is too late.

Make your mind up Micheal frist you say they had no cars now you admit that that a bunch showed up because they were getting canceled . But hey sounded like a good choice the track made . guys made a effort to show up to show they wanted to race Emod class. and the track cancled the class sounds like a great choice the track made. They drop the truck class at NSS when they were only having 5/7 show up so how much longer are they going to give the mod class ? I will bet if they tell the mod class they are going to drop them if more don't show up. they could'nt get 10 cars to show up fact. They can't even get cars for a 50 lapper .

Modifieds have only ran 3 times this year and the car count has been 10 10 8. The car count is low in all the classes this year. Changing the classes is not going to be the magic fix.

                  _05--What would you suggest...?

I believe Sportsman has been doing okay regarding car count.

I would make the cars running a sb2 ad 60 or 70 lbs. Allow cars to run the ls3, 604 , Ford coyote, and dodge hemi. To run with a weight break and/or more left side weight.
I would also start allowing tube clips in 2018 with no weight penalty.

I do not think that will help the car count any because the biggest complaints at nss (in all classes) seem to be about the politics, or payout. If the rules were to be fixed then there is always the problem of getting new drivers into the class. Seems like not many under the age of 40 or 50 have any interest in the cars.

I have no dog in this fight anymore and glad I don't. NSS has never really had a great modified car count as compared to other tracks. The e-mods were dominated buy just a couple of cars the rest ran for 3rd. I know one of the e-mods that won either 12 or 13 in a row at orlando and a couple at nss in the short time the emods were around. It still bowls down to who does the most work and can drive the best. You make everyone run create motors but the guy that runs last is still going to be there sorry that is just a fact. I ran a motor at NSS that made at best 500 hp against the big motors and was able to win. I didn't get on hear and complain about it being unfair that I don't have a big motor like other guys. I just went and worked on my car harder. I choose to build a modified and new going into it what it would take to run up front and didn't ask for rules changes because I chose a class I really couldn't afford.

Yea the one your talking about winning so much had a built motor I always hope someone would put the money up and tear his motor down every nut and bolt guarantee you he wouldn't of been legal . Thats why the class should have been crate only no built motors . But hey everything seams to working great right I was so glad I didn't waste my money this past week almost went there .

You can cheat a crate motor too.

You know, multi manufacturer stuff always sounds great, and it is what they did in the 60s. But say those were the rules. Something or other would be dominant, and then those with the Fords (or etc) would stay home.

But your post brings up an interesting thought.

Let's say that the New Smyrna Stated Goal in 2017 to the racers was as follows:

Rule #1--We want equal competition and greater car count. All other rules will be to support Rule #1.

Rule #2--Our baseline engine is "x". Something inexpensive and easy to maintain.

Rule #3--You can run anything else you like, but weight will be added or subtracted from any or all given combinations monthly--maybe even weekly--solely to make them even with the baseline engine.

Now, this removes incentive to put a bunch of money under the hood. But it may add incentive to those with cars on jackstands to get back to the track.

I don't see how you can cheat a crate motor if you say no unsealed motors and if you are caught cheating one up they take the whole motor and your fined that would stop most from even thinking about it.
