Good news at last! The new owner said the magic word, "atmosphere". If he can change the atmosphere of a Florida short track from quiet, old and withering away to something electric and exciting, then he will have my undying gratitude. Wouldn't that be a great trend?

I love racing at Citrus. Hopefully the SSSS will get some dates there!

      Bones,

Whaddaya think about an "Old Tyme" theme regarding lettering, popcorn stands, etc.?

In other words, new, shiny, but with a nod to the heritage of the place.

Visit Monster Jam, Daytona International, arenacross, anything with Red Bull or even that dumb gymkhana. All are successful, and all are all modern and forward thinking. Imagine Citrus decked out with wild Whelen Engineering track strobes, a giant LED screen, pumpin' speakers and pretty girls! No more old fashioned stuff in Florida racing. Even though my personal taste tends that way, an entertainment facility needs to be modern and electric, IMHO.

OS, you and I are going to the races anyway, but to succeed, we also need to attract singles, young families, kids, brain-dead millennials, etc.

Don't even get me started on fields full of 40 year old, steel-bodied V8's. Those optics need to change too.

          How to Convert Drifters 101

          Suits me.

So, here is a thought to garner the young drifter crowd:

Write rules requiring safety gear and pretty much whatever they want/whatever they have currently regarding the cars.

Line them up and let them race for the win. Hopefully by the time they stop drifting in order to win they will be hooked.

There was a strong contingent of serious racers at Hialeah...

From the "Here's a novel idea" department....

They should consider changing the name to something catchy and memorable like....oh, say....Full Throttle Speedway!

9 out of 10 senior, message board posters agree that the first thing to do when resurrecting a race track from the ashes is to change the name that caused all the problems in the first place....lol

            Ohhhhh.....I crack me up.
