After doing some research on front clips i was lead to this website. I find it very interesting that this type of clip has been around as long as it has and other types have been introduced to our class. take the time to browse the site............makes one think.johnsonchassis_com.htm:

Doug,
Found the site that you and Benny posted, but forgive me, don't know exactly where you are going with this, sir.
Is the point--"Hey, there really are stock geometry clips out there if y'all want to legislate them!"?
Because, if so, while that is understandable and probably would be preferable, it is neither here nor there if the local rules allow "more".
To your earlier point, let us hope and pray the different tracks do not adopt different rules--what a nightmare that will be for the class.
On this site there was a similar thread prior to the E Brann race, and Anderson's car was named. That car won the race, and then the clip was cut off and replaced afterwards, presumably with a "better" one.
I heard it was happening from the proverbial "little birdie", but could hardly believe it.
Point being, if Anderson is having to change clips monthly to attempt to maintain his advantage, how long can it possibly be until the back end of the field throws their hands up and parks their car?

First of all this thread has nothing to do with Mr. Anderson
I recently hit the wall and destroyed my front clip
The last time I replaced the clip I purchased a left hander stock metric clip. Its was economical because I didn't have to deal with all the work of stripping an entire car down. The same excuse for all the fabricated front clips
Lefthander tech man told me they simply have none left. ones they are finding to overhaul and sell are either bent or rusted out ( they are in Illinois)
Apparently this clip from Johnson has been around for a long time and is a replica of a metric stock clip ( as are on many many mods)
When you read into the web site it explains somewhat of why they built them and why the (others ) shouldn't be used.
I also really like the tech jig. I also like the built lower control arms.
if all mounting points stay the same and no ford lowers this would even the playing field with front end geometry.
I spoke to the G.M. of Desoto and he is allowing these and promoting them
I did not speak to Rex but since they have a 6 pack thing going I would imagine A - Dale will follow suit
I will be calling Yoho and see if this clip is ok with him as well.........
Since I am in the market for a new clip and all my parts (that aren't bent or broke) will bolt up.....Well maybe this is the next gen of mods ???
Also kinda curious as to what people have to say about the clips........Doug Miller # 53

This chassis has been around a very long time but the problem is no one on asphalt is running a small metric frame. The majority are using a big impala clip with 1 or 2 ford lowers. The clip on Josh Todd's car or the rf ford lower control arm is not why he's winning races. They work on the car and give the kid credit he a pretty good shoe and did i mention they work on their car instead of whining on a message board. The AMF clip is a tube clip at a far price.
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL.

When Ricky... as tough on rules as he is.... says 'they're legal, and give some credit where it's due".... I have to give that credibility.
If Ricky can't be bought off by the likes of Busch, Wallace, Wauters, or anyone else.... I don't think Josh Todd and Dickie Anderson would make him think differently

Merry Christmas! The Celebration of the Birth of Christ is Here!!
Perhaps I am being unclear.
This thread and my posts indeed have nothing to do with Mr Anderson per se, except to point out that his stuff is cutting edge (no doubt), front clip wise--and within the rules, since I have seen it run, and win, at NSS and Showtime.
The question is...is that clip at the "edge" of the rules, or is that edge somewhere beyond that clip or...just what are the rules?
Now, true, I do not have a mod in the garage, but many that read this site do, Doug included.
He is needing a front clip. It would be helpful if the precise parameters of what is legal are known so he can make an informed choice.
Incidentally, have done a little drafting (pencil and velum, not Daytona {lol}), I will be glad to assist putting the rules to a drawing--and then scan and send--if that would help the rules makers and/or the racers.

Doug, I have a stock clip cut out of a full size metric car already I'd be willing to part with. Send me an email mark.ballew83@gmail.com
Merry Christmas everyone!

And the tibe clip was added to the mod rules in 2004 at NSS and Desoto speedway.Originally posted by Ricky Brooks View PostThis chassis has been around a very long time but the problem is no one on asphalt is running a small metric frame. MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL.
There have been many of these cars in the last years so why the big push now.
Rember when no one wanted a spec engine then Anderson got one and it became a big deal.
Ricky said that there legal and that is that.
Get one or don't it is ur call the teq man made his call and the ball is in ur cort..

Don,
What is legal?
The Impala clip? The AMF clip?
Is the AMF clip a tube Impala copy? Are the lower control arm adjustments legal? What are the limits, if any, on those adjustments?
Ride height?
As mentioned, "the majority" are running those, but where is the line drawn? Clearly, one wants to be faster than the majority if possible.
What geometry is illegal?
It would be a shame to weld up a clip with say, NE mod geometry (assuming it is not one of the above), and bring a car to the track just to find out it is illegal.Last edited by OldSchool+; 12-26-2015, 09:17 AM.

Old School I can tell you first hand that Dick doesn't re-clip that car after each race. After the win at NSS during the cup weekend that same front clip will be on the car for speedweeks. That makes no sense to reclip one that wins and has been proven legal. Dick works hard to make that car fast, and like Ricky said Josh is a heck of driver. Dick's shop doors are always open stop by and take a look.
