    Need to know:

When can we buy tires to start testing

    How much per tire

What is being put in the prize fund for running this tire

Is there a monetary benefit to the racer to run this tire

Do not tell us we will be able to run the tire in more than 1 race.

If you can not buy new tires each week you will be the back unless you treat them, how are you going to enforce.

THE TREADED TIRES DO NOT LAST ANY LONGER, STICKERS ARE STILL QUICKER THAN USED TIRES.

long story short.... TREADED TIRES ARE NOT SAVING ANYONE ANY MONEY, IF YOU WANT TO RUN UP FRONT YOU ARE STILL BOLTING 4 STICKERS ON EVERY NIGHT.
I would have to agree except for one thing. Tracks are saving money because they are buying in bulk.............but not passing on the savings.

Should have said they are not saving DRIVERS/CAR OWNERS any money

Lousy greedy tracks. Denny, Rex, and Yoho all just purchased new Carribean vacation homes as well as Bentley's. They are making so much money raping you all on tires and pocketing all the cash that their racetrack empires are producing, all the while laughing at the lowly racers.

            Weft,

Let's assume it is not for the benjamins.

I believe you are "close" to Desoto.

Why would they ask the also Bentley-free racers to buy a third type of tire?

(ps--One can only pronounce that "Bhent-leigh"--it's the rules)

Of course it's about the Benjamin's. Every track has to make decisions that allow it to be able to continue to operate. Yoho, Rex, Denny, and every other track. It's the nature of the beast. If a track continually loses money, it will cease to be a track. Truthfully, everyone reads into things way too deep. They assume that this decision is being made to somehow hurt or inconvenience the racers. It isn't. It's simply an economic decision. Let me ask you a question. As a consumer, would you purchase a product for a higher price when you could get an equal of better product at a better price? Without being privy to the actual figures involved, if the track is getting a better deal, would it not stand to reason that will in the macro help the racers? No track owner is getting rich in this state. Every track is battling to stay alive fighting against high costs, bad weather, and racers who think everything is a sinister plot against them. I haven't always agreed with Desoto, Showtime, or any number of tracks. But I call it like I see it and am a non-apologist. I have yet to meet Ronnie Bacelo face to face, but he is working his rosy red ass off to make a difference. To sit down and work with Rex is very comendable, and he works with Rick and Showtime as well. This man is truly about working together. Just look at the schedules. Auburndale and Desoto are alternating weeks. A lot of people talk about working together, but Ronnie is doing it. The tire thing is simply a business decision and it sucks that not everyone likes it. It's not personal.

Okay, so it is about the benjamins.

Like those that think that simply increasing taxes will equal more revenue, I would suggest that there is more than a little margin per tire involved.

I believe bucking St Pete is going to affect car count and crowd count.

If you sell less tires and make less at both gates, how does that work out?

                "Gooooooooo back, Forest, gooooooo baaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!"

You speak of this as if it is a done deal. Without compromising yourself, is it?

I never said it was a done deal. In fact, I only heard of it bc every one else is talking about it, be it on Karnac or Facebook. I'm just pointing out that people's reasons for being so quick to vilify the idea are likely very far from reality.

Your suggestion that there is more than a little margin per tire involved is not valid. Very easy to read between the lines. You think it's a Showtime attack. And this is exactly what Philthy talks about. Starting rumors that aren't there. As I said, Ronnie has a good relationship with Rick Day and Showtime. Showtime cars tend to stay at Showtime. I know you mostly do the east coast thing, but research it a little. You'll see. Classes like Supers, OWM, Trucks, and Sportsman tend to buy tires every race anyway. Showtime Street Stocks and Mini's tend to stay there. Why vilify Desoto and ADALE? If they switch to American Racers, that will put 50% of the active tracks in the state on American Racers. You could just as easily vilify Showtime or New Smyrna. But I wouldn't call that fair either. All 4 tracks are just doing what is best for them so they are able to give all the racers a place to race. Plain and simple. If some cars park bc they don't want to buy a few extra rims or dismount tires, I guess while unfortunate and undesirable, it is what it is. You can't please everyone no matter how hard you try.

                      Weft,

                      Admittedly you are correct.

Agreed, you are making my usual point.

But as reported, I assumed that the F53 was going away mid '16 or so.

The R750 reportedly would last longer (it apparently does not on a modified) and appeared to be "the new standard".

I also thought of the "four tires every week, so what?" deal, but I will bet there is a lot more fine tuning in shocks and whatnot than just bolting them on.

It is Desoto & Auburndale's prerogative to run KUMHOs if they want, but it is also the modified team's prerogative to run exclusively at Showtime--if they want.

And if Robert figures out he "has" them, you don't think he will run them most every week, do you?

Wait and see--Showtime will be the place for Modifieds on the West Coast. And I am cool with that.

ps--I feel for the racers, but this is not to slam the tracks, I just believe it will prove to be unwise for the tracks as well.

Finally, imagine the next poor promoter at Citrus!

New (and fictitious) Citrus Rule: Bring whatever you like, soak the crap out of them, but bring them with you! If they are black, they are legal!

Meanwhile, 3 Plams turns will be lined with modified take off tires.

I think I am done now.

                            ATTENTION ALL DRIVERS

Desoto Speedway and Auburndale Speedway have teamed up for the 2016 season. We have created series races for the Supers, Sportsman Open Wheel Modified and the Pro-Trucks. We are trying to keep short track racing alive and we have to get creative with our marketing and schedules to do so.

As a team we made a business decision to change tire vendors as Hoosier was not giving anything back to the Speedway. After talking with American Racer it was a no brainer. They came in with a program geared towards taking care of the racer, Rex Guy and myself have agreed to put together a point fund for all the series with the money.

This decision was not geared to hurt anyone intentionally; we all feel that this will be good for everyone involved. We will have all the Tire #’s and tire prices as soon as possible, and have them readily available before the first of the year.

The Supers will be on a 10” Slick and the Open Wheels, Sportsman, Street Stock, Trucks and Pure Stock will all be on the 8” treaded. The Modified Mini’s and Mini Stocks will also be on treaded tire.

                            Thank you

There you have it, straight from Linda.

The R-750 will last longer on a modified, but the problem is, the next guy will just come in and buy new tires and now you have to as well to have a shot. It's not like the northeast where they limit how many tires you can buy. Up there, guys run weekly for points, run heats, and are subject to the same playing field. Down here, guys time trial and guys pick and choose select races so you can't limit tires really. Somebody could just show up mid season for a big money race, bolt on 4 new snuggies, take the pole and walk away. Then, all the other drivers would bitch up a firestorm.

If the OWM Mod guys choose to run Showtime exclusively, it is what it is. The current way wasn't working, nothing is lost if the new way doesn't work either.
