Ummmm....let me get this straight....a track owner is on a message board demanding "respect" from drivers? lmmfao! Ummm....news flash...the cars and drivers are what make the show...not the owner! so get off your damn high horse John. How about you pay some respect to the drivers that sacrifice everything to put on a show with 6-10 cars per division. The car count sucks because certain tracks treat the drivers like crap! Period! I will NEVER put another car of mine on Desoto's track and encourage others to do the same...what a crock!! Demands respect from drivers.....wow.

Desoto Speedway Rumor

This really is getting out of hand. Before you vilify Desoto, I can assure you that John's opinion does not reflect the opinions of Desoto Speedway, it's owner, or it's employees. I feel as though you might be getting the notion that he is in some way affilliated with the track. He isn't to my knowledge. Whether you agree with him or not, it's America and John is entitled to his opinion. Why he is on here attacking person after person is beyond me. Why it's being condoned I would also question, but with racing in the precarious state it's in, it feels very counter productive and divisive. I suppose I have now opened myself up to attack, but that's ok, I'm a grown man. I can handle it. But if you want to crucify any track, don't do it because someone with no affiliation to them says something. Desoto has a new track manager in place, so give him and the staff the chance to build the place up. Just seeing this type of poisonous rhetoric have a demobstrable effect is disheartening.

Then it would seem the terms of the lease dictate who is driving the bus.
Still, seems self evident that one would do all they could do to drive revenue towards one's lessee--so they in fact have the cash to pay zee rent.
In the world o florida racing, there always seems to be more to the story...
Keeps it interesting, I suppose.Last edited by OldSchool+; 10-20-2015, 09:04 PM.

Weft it is John, don't kid yourself. Look at all his historical posts and the verbiage used in his posts. I've been involved in Florida racing for over 24-years now, and was present when he first purchased Desoto. He can voice his loud, obnoxious and divisive opinion all he wants, of course. I can also voice mine. He has made his point clear as if we need to bow down to him. If you are a driver, you can affiliate yourself with who you want, that's your choice. With him as the primary shareholder after the corporation went into conversion to a LLC, I refuse to line his pockets with anymore of my cash. I'll go somewhere else, there are more tracks out there. And as a principal shareholder of the LLC, he should be doing everything to promote racing in the most favorable light possible and "earn" the respect of the drivers, not "demand" it. And if I was Dennis Meyer, who is the manager of the facility and the LLC, I'd be pretty concerned about John spouting off at the mouth. It just sends a profound message that this is who is behind the scene pulling the puppet strings with arrogance. I respect your support of the current manager, and he is a nice guy. But as long as loud mouth has ANYTHING to do with that track and he continues to benefit from it, I nor my friends and family will have no part of it. Does he think Bobby D is the only one that reads the garbage he is posting?? I think not...he's made his impression, and a very unfavorable one to boot. Good luck with your loyalty to Desoto, it's obvious where John's loyalty is at...it's to himself. I'll let the door hit me in the A$$ on the way out too, it just bounces off my wallet.

It's not even about loyalty. It's just about the truth. That was my point. Way too much negativity. John gets the same money whether the track is making money or whether it isn't. If it was his money on the table to be lost, he wouldn't be being so vocal I'm sure. It's not about loyalty. I consider Bobby Diehl to be a good friend. I also have friends at Desoto who I know are trying very hard to make things good. The bottom line is, judge a track based on their own actions, not John's. If Bobby does something wrong, blame Bobby. If Desoto does something wrong, blame Desoto. And if John does something wrong, blame John. We are all responsible for our own actions, but we shouldn't be responsible for others actions.
