I sure hope someone will come in and rescue this sinking ship. It's sad to see this place only have an average of 20-25 cars per week for 4 classes. Someone out there has got to be able to run this place an make it successful again!!Comment

I wonder if their loss of electricity was due to mother nature or the electric company. Or maybe, like Gary, they've just found an excuse to cancel the show and avoid spending money.Comment

The Air Port meeting thursday.
Thursday morning saw the Charlotte Air Port meeting put the Speedway on the "HOT SEAT" about the $50,000.00 deposit that waved if they rebuilt the fence, electric, and grand stands. And to be left after thier lease was up so not to have the race track be left in the condition it was the last time. When I got the Track back in 2006 I had to pay LeRoys back taxes $26,000.00+ to take over. When I sold Kevin the lease he agreed to pay off my back taxes of $36,000.00+ for the three years I had it. He paid me just enough to get everyone paid up to date except my personally signed for debt. The taxes have been paid since 2010 (when I paid them up to date). Now the taxes are $68,297.84 due NOW!!!!! All this is pulbic record. Also at the meeting we heard from the group that paid and installed the new fence. They have an out standing bill for $80,000.00 for 11 months and said they are about to put the legal action the place against the track, and the land owner (CCAA). Also they asked to take over the lease (the Air Port replied all leases can be taken over). And all this is in the report from the meeting. So the power bill isn't the only problem they need to pay (which was about $2,000 a month if they turn on the lights Friday, and Saturday nights only)if infact it is the bill not a power outage. Again this is all public reord. The next group coming in must pay off all the taxes before opening. I feel so bad about the racers they are the ones who supported the track and now have garge trophys.

like in my lease with my business taxes are included in my monthly bill, don't understand why their's isn't and why this seems to be a continious problem with the track, I also wonder if they are behind on their lease payments as well beside the back taxes and fence bill, with this kinda of debt not sure who coild take the track over now JMO

So, approximately $150K to take over.
On top of that a weekly loss in purse in order to grow car count for who knows how long...
When will the investment realize a return for the investor? And short of rich folks that "enjoy" their 'Vegas "experience" (that is, losing money) who of sound mind would step up?
Am hoping some concessions can be made by the government and other debtors, but Bobby's post points out why money, not "kumbaya", is what makes the racing world go round.Comment

Yes, you are. First, he and Gary leased the track, the Airport Authority owns it. Bobby required almost exactly the same as this regime. Gary did most of the heavy lifting as i recall, and i believe he's the one that had the money. Bobby didn't pay his bills either. Taxes aside, i seem to recall some racers complaining that they never got money they were owed. A lot of Florida race tracks were putting on 30 car Late Model races in those days. Along with sprints and everything else. Not many are now.Comment

The disturbing part of this thread is Bobby using the word " we " in his report on the minutes of the meeting. Does this mean Bobby et al are trying to get the lease again?Comment

Matt. What's disturbing is your above post. Things that you think are facts are not even close to the truth. You should do a little research before you post false information like what you post above. Are you intimate with the details that Bobby had in his lease? And are you 100% sure that Gary's name was also on the lease when Bobby originally signed it?
Also, I won the last super late model race at Punta Gorda and was paid in full personally by Bobby. He made sure we got every dime that we had coming to us. Would you care to list the drivers that you claim were not paid? I would love to hear your list.Comment

No, i have no idea if Gary's name was added to the lease after Bobby signed. I'm just wondering what possible difference it would make to the unpleasaent end of the lease.
The intimate details of the lease have nothing at all to do with Bobby not paying his taxes. Or are you privy to lease details that said he didn't have to pay taxes? Thanks to Bobby spreading the word, we now know the tax situation for the current lease holders though.
As for the racers not receiving what they were owed, well, then that's my mistake. As long as you were paid for the last race, i guess that automatically means everyone was paid every penny they were owed for all of the races run there.
How about some reading comprehension 101? My post says " i seem to recall some racers complaining that they never got money they were owed". How did you come up with that sentence being fact? Actually my research consisted of talking to people at the track, and reading the many posts on the track web site.
Sit tight, you might hear from folks that weren't paid if they read this thread.
