All those trucks were not on lead lap. JS. I lapped some of them at least 3 times. Caused my caution because of it. Better move up the line.

Sometimes a sponsor will pay for the leader at the halfway mark, or the "hard luck" guy taking his car home on a jackstand on the trailer, or...

Seems like it was the sponsor's call, and sponsors with money are a "good" thing, regardless of who gets it.

That said, I can certainly understand the frustration of those finishing ahead of those guys.

We had the same deal on the Busch North Series. 10th place paid a bonus, so our driver let up 9th to get that bonus and finish 10th. Why did the 36x retire anyway? Had a top 5-10 truck.

"The performance incentive here is ???"--GP

I understand completely where you are coming from, but it may/probably has nothing to do with that incentive.

It could be anything from the sponsor appealing to their own "hard luck" clientele (to make them more money than the whole deal cost--that is their real "goal"), to the guy making the $$ decisions daughter's idea just before bedtime.

Guys bitch and cry cause there is no purse... Then they bitch when a sponsor steps up and offers bonus money and decides to help those running a little further back in the field... So people bitch and cry that someone helped them... Seems legit... I don't get the logic here... You people should be happy someone stepped up to spread the wealth a bit, rather than criticizing them. This negativity may cause them to decide to not return to sponsoring... Now you are taking possible money out of your own pockets... BRILLIANT!!!!

I agree with Phil, I think it helps the guys that don't always run at the front. It is why I sponsor a hard charger bonus in the modifieds at New Smyrna. It may help a guy who starts toward the back and moves forward even thru attrition. It is cool for someone who doesn't win all the time to be called a Hard Charger.

                        same-same at DIS

                        2015 Daytona Payout (partial)

Finishing posn: 32 Reed Sorenson Golden Corral Chevrolet $314,228
Finishing posn: 33 Jeff Gordon Drive to End Hunger Chevrolet $594,801

Jeff & Rick neither "earned" more money in the 500 per se, nor "need" it more than Sorenson & his team.

                        And it isn't $50...

                        Yet there are the numbers.

The upside of racing: Being in the car, on the track, and maybe passing another guy.

The downside: Many other things related to getting there.

Thanks again to those that make the sacrifice to get on the track.

I simply asked for some clarity.

This is not directed as a true question, you know this as does everyone else. It's a huge sense of entitlement. And when you start questioning a good deed such as this by a sponsor willing to put up bonus money for those that THEY CHOOSE, it's bitching. This "question" was posed in a clear derogatory nature.

I sure did bitch, that people like you are ungrateful fucks...
