Linda has posted 40 laps, $900 to win on Facebook. And you're posting 50 laps, $1,000 to win here....

        ....what can the racers expect?

I will check on the Laps and payout.

I was told two weeks ago that it would be $1000.00 to Win and a $100.00 to start (it may of been a entry / impound race at that point), but didn't check with Linda (my mistake for not checking). I will and post want the laps and payout will be. Thanks for the heads up. It's going to be a fun night to come "The Students Night at the Races" should put a crowd in the stands. With the 1000 free (to the first 1000 students) checkered flags bring your sharpie's so the kids can get your autographic.

Here is (in my opinion) a huge flaw with the way this is going down... By this time in the week, many guys have already decided what they are racing and where. You would be much better off posting a minimum of 2 weeks in advance of a show (any race really) with PAYOUTS INCLUDED. This has nothing to do with "how we do it up nawth" either. This is just speaking as a racer straight up. 3 days in advance is nowhere near enough notification for many. Many of us race paycheck to paycheck on a budget and can't just randomly pull extra tow and tire money out for a show like this. Full payout listing and further advance notice are absolutely a must. I personally applaud your drive and what you are attempting to do but please hear what I am saying as constructive criticism.

Phil, try to keep up. LOL ! I'm trying. Bobby started talking about this race in the middle of May. It's becoming too much to follow.

Constructive criticism, promoting a race with the methods of a political campaign at election time becomes irritating and people will change the channel or ignore the message.

lol I tend to ignore most of his posts. They are a pain to read without your eyes hurting with that stupid blue he uses. Regardless from the beginning of this post there were no payouts posted really. My opinion is racers should race to race, not for a paycheck, but I understand why the paycheck is so important in many cases. I have a different mindset on that subject than almost everyone so it's whatever lol I personally believe when the schedule is made, payouts should be posted. I've posted the way Thompson Speedway does things a couple times. They have a generalized payout for regular races, and a generalized payout for special events. No flip flopping depending on car count etc. I just think he would draw much more interest if the payout was posted further in advance. Just simply saying there is a 50 lap OWM race isn't going to make guys show up especially when another track already posts their payouts and guys have a better idea of if they stand a chance to do okay or not. I dunno, just my .02 on this subject... I think Desoto in general needs to be a little more open with that. The track has huge potential right now and I think if they started posting all payouts further in advance they might stand a better chance to draw cars. Who knows...

Oh and Bobby... this is directly for you... LOSE THE COLORED TEXT and keep 1 event in 1 post, not 600 different threads. It all gets confusing and everyone stops following it. Keep it all in one place and it's easier to follow. NO ONE will disagree with that... And if it's easier on the eyes, you may draw many more readers too...

A couple of thoughts on the Bobby Diehl " Onslaught and Remake Of Race Promotion".

Bobby always thinks loud and colorful are necessary to get your point out there.
In truth, it's usually just very annoying.

Bobby really believes that the number of hits his posts get, translate into new fans.
In truth, most of those hits are from Bobby himself constantly checking for new posts.

Bobby believes that by adding new threads to every topic, he's reaching new readers. He also thinks that starting a new thread on the very same topic will steer people away from critical comments he received on the first thread.
In truth, people aren't likely to fall for that trick. And the ones who do aren't people he wants to reach.

Bobby thinks that constant bombardment is going to register with the demographic.
In truth, think back to every tv commercial that plays 20 times per hour and makes you want to throw something at the tv.

Bobby, like the tracks, thinks that big fonts and bright colors on a racing forum are all that's needed to build fan and racer support.
In truth, i'd be very surprised if David Rogers or Jesse Dutilly even read this forum. So they aren't getting the message. Nor are the thousands of potential fans who don't know this site even exists.

I'd like to believe that Bobby's PR work extends beyond this site. Here, you're just preaching to the choir. Please use your enthusiasm to get the word out to people who have no idea what racing is or where it happens. That would be an accomplishment worth talking about.

Oh, and check your facts before posting.

Very happy to see the "no impound" part. I assume the racers won't be forced to buy tires or gas. Good job Desoto.

The sport would be better off with lots more Bobby Diehls. We need somebody working the front gate.

Matt, you know the old saying, "lead, follow or get out of the damn way."

Bobby certainly has the right idea... The posts could be more consolidated and professionally written and formed. But the general idea is there and that I definitely applaud him for. He has huge drive and desire and that's awesome. But I think Matt highlighted a few things well. The blue is annoying, multiple posts about the same subject are just confusing and irritating and the format in which he writes is not very well thought out and a bit on the childish side for lack of a better way to say it.

I don't think many realize that this site gets a LOT more views than it does posts. That's the only reason I still stay here at this point is cause I know people are listening. I've been contacted multiple times recently because of things I have said here and it's been on a positive note. It doesn't go unnoticed here. Bobby is doing a good thing and people have absolutely taken notice but if he changed a few simple things it could be even better in my eyes.
