There may not be enough time, energy, or inclination left to drag your stuff out to the barnum & bailey icecream-eating children-smooching social down at the local hardware store.

If you cant spare one Sunday afternoon a couple times per season to not only market yourself and support your sponsors by getting them out into the public eye, but help draw attention to the track by displaying or parading your car publicly at an event of some sort, you probably need to find a sport or hobby that is less time consuming. Racing takes a committed effort from the track to the shop and beyond. If you aren't willing to put in 110% that's fine, that's not for everyone, but don't cry about purses, car counts or crowds if you are not trying to help be part of the growth of this sport. It's not one sided as much as everyone wants to think it is. It takes some effort from Tracks and Racers. We are in this together.

I agree, Phil. But the tracks need to take the lead on this thing. Find the events and then reach out to the drivers to ask for support for it. The drivers that do have the time or see the value in it will support it. It takes a ton of financial commitment to run ANY class of racecar so I think some kind of reciprocation is not out of order. Simply have the tracks give 2 complimentary pit passes to each driver who supports each promotional event. That way everybody wins and you give the drivers something for their time, effort and gas expenditure. The track gets effective advertising aimed at their core demographic without virtually any cost to them.

No I absolutely agree, the tracks do need to take the lead. Call your drivers and teams, get them involved and show them that you care about them and the track. That goes a LONG way! As for some kind of something in return, 2 free comp tickets for the next race for the pits or something is fine, but I have heard guys cry about tow money and this and that and the other on top of comp tickets... Don't forget, you are marketing yourself when you are out there too so it's not ALL for the track. There are two sides of it any time that car is out in the public eye. Personally, that's why I roll with an open trailer. It's a little extra work sometimes keeping a white racecar clean and dry, but it turns your tow rig into a rolling advertisement for the track and your sponsors.

And presumably that rebel flag stuck in the trunk is to support your primary--"Southern Comfort" Whiskey?!

But seriously, more power to those that actively market, but I am thankful for the racers holed up in their garage that bring a car to the track as well.

If you ever catch me with a bottle of SoCo or a rebel flag, you can hang me at dawn... I hate everybody equally and drink Jack Daniels! lol

I guess this means no Phil-onna-trailer at the Civil War Reenactment?

              Oh, the humanity...

Taking two first-timers to Lavonia Speedway in Georgia tonight. I'm armed with enough alcohol to make sure they have a good time. Hopefully, two more folks will receive and accept the gospel of stock car racing.
