matt I know for a fact most fans that sit in the stands don't know the difference in a e-mod verse a big motor mod. at are tracks I have been ask before and when I tell them the response is oh . either way it cost a lot more to run a big motor mod most people can't afford it . the only way raising the purse will help is if they raise the pay out through the field. lets see next year how many more cars they get showing up running the regular Saturday night show last year they average 4/5 cars if you take out the e-mod cars that ran with them . Bruce they are wrong I will send you a pm on here .

yea sitting here thinking what the difference between a super late model and a prolate model oh yea the prolate model runs a crate motor. I guess they should drop the prolates model class next. that way they could raise the pay out for the superlates and get more cars .Last edited by modracer#8; 10-30-2014, 09:49 AM.

Bruce,
Sorry about your class being dropped.
I can tell the difference, but perhaps I am in the minority.
Seems like your choices are (and I am sure you know them):
>Put a 4 barrel on it and whatever else you can cheaply do and run for fifth. That doesn't sound like much fun...
>As Scott G mentioned, convert it into a Sportsman car.
>Find another place to run and rebuild it to suit their rules.Last edited by OldSchool+; 10-30-2014, 09:58 AM.

I know that a lot of E Mod drivers are understandably upset that he class is being dropped at NSS. One thing that is getting lost in all this is that NSS was the last track holding onto the class. They should be commended for trying to make it work when everyone else abandoned the E Mods. Unfortunately, the car counts just weren't there. I don't understand it since they are an affordable and fun alternative to the open Mods.
If you own an E Mod and want to continue racing you are forced to have to spend more money. There's no way around it. The good news is I think there are some affordable ways to do it.
Sportsman- Like I said before, an E Mod can be made into a good Sportsman for not a ton of cash. Move the motor forward, buy a driveshaft and a 4 bbl and hang a body. You can make this change for less than $2000.
Open Mod- To convert to an open Mod is more pricey, but not that outrageous if you have a Crate motor. The Vortex head on the Crate is a very good head. Big valves, good springs and machine work will have them ready to flow and make Big HP. Add a high rise intake and a big 4 bbl and your top end is stout. Add solid lifters and a big cam. On the short block add some light pistons, strong rods and a lightweight crank. This can be expensive but nof if you use the import Eagle stuff which is very durable. A good oil pan is a must also. With all these upgrades to the Crate you should be able to make around 500 HP.
Here lies a good business opportunity for chassis and engine builders alike. Post it on here. If you're AMF Chassis, why not advertise a E Mod to Sportsman conversion package? Price it right and it's easy money. Same with engine builders. A GM 602 to Open Mod conversion, carb to pan with all machine work for a set price.
I know it's a bummer, but c'mon guys, convert 'em. The last thing we need is more guys not racing...Last edited by scottgarrity07; 10-30-2014, 10:50 AM.

It was all going so great until you suggested a Ford...

Phil has "retired" from KARNAC due to frustration with a few posters. He still "lurks" though. You never answered my question from another thread. Are you coming to Frasson118's Governor's Cup BBQ? You can give me a hard time in person over a SUDS, burnt chicken and the world's best Tater Salad.

[QUOTE=kendo;152007]Every time the topic of purses come up,there will always be those that chime in and say they don't race for the money.
That's because if your doing it to make money you should probably get a real job. We all know the old saying if you want to make a million racing start with 2 million. I am not saying that I do not want to be paid and I pointed out who is paying and getting cars. Mods are strong in central Florida. Come to Desoto Saturday and Showtime the following Saturday. And you will probably see most all the central Florida modifieds.Doug Miller # 53

Re: Showtime/racefuel--One does need to buy the stuff somewhere, but there are other places to tow on Saturday night.
Is the Showtime gasoline higher than other tracks?
It won't be long before all drivers are required to purchase hamburger, fries and large drink at the track concession stand, and show the receipt, before they can race each night.

I will let you know as soon as I have it figured out, though.
