      another aberrant thought

      from the "left field" catagory...

I wonder if money could be made by a dirt late model or five as an exhibition event at a drifting show (actually, imo, the whole thing is an exhibition event, but that is another story...).

The late model guys could throw on some old, hard asphalt tires blown up to about 60 psi and show the youngsters how it is done--on asphalt.

Maybe even an exhibition race against the best toyoter they brought.

Meanwhile, back to semi-osw bashing. Btw, I will wager that they don't give a tinker's toenail about the occasional negativity--if anything, it could be reinforcing a drag racing mindset that roundy-rounders are less...sophisticated folk, and therefore, why have them on the circle track spitting 'baccer juice everywhere?

A better question is...does Donnie still work there? There seems to be a strict rule at OSW that no track manager is allowed to stay on the job longer than 3 months.

Kind of neither here nor there. Am hoping Donnie is doing well, and any experience has to be a positive. He is either there or has moved on. Look at Ricky Brooks--he is now in demand for his engine tech services.

And the track is still a money deal. As it did with the tree service race, money will rent the track.

Heck, enough money will buy the place.

But right now, the money that is in control is doing exactly what it wants to do.

Rather ironic, ain't it? The city of Orlando builds and re-builds stick-and-ball sports venues with taxpayer $$, while Speed World and the Bithlonians languish in obscurity...

Dave, What classes? And modracer do tell what he had to say? Maybe this would be a good place for the e-mods since NSS dropped them.

                  NSS dropped them? Why?
Normalcy is a myth. what is perfectly normal for the Cheetah, Becomes absolute chaos for the Antelope.

They are talking about it. I hear it"s just talk and it is because what few big mods they have left there are a few drivers believe if they drop the e-mods then everybody will want to run out and build a 10 to 18 thousand dollar motor and change back to big motor to get there car counts up. LOL not going to happen. if you go and look at the points on New Smyrna website they had more e-mods then big motor mods they have e-mods mixed in with the big motor mods points . and every big motor mod race this year had e-mods running with them . now I myself have not been out there at all with a car for the past 2 years do to losing two family members one being my younger brother at the age of 39 this past January. And now I am trying to recover from a surgery myself . so there's my excuse for not supporting the track . As far as OSW goes you want to know what's going on call them yourself.

Personally I don't think they should have dropped them completely, just give us big engine mod's more then 4 races (2 of which got rained out) all year. I would be happy if they ran us once a month or split the time evenly between the 2.

Because no sane person will build/race an e-mod for a pathetic $300 to win on a weekly basis.

I know how these things go, & this probably simply cannot be done, but...

Is there a mechanical change that could come close to equalizing these motors?

ie--More cam for one and less for another, and maybe thick head gaskets for the big motor cars?

I love the mods. One big field with a decent motor is good for me.

And here's another keg-o-nails--Back in the day claimer motors ran/sounded good, better than an e-mod in my memory (which, as always, is suspect...).

We probably don't need all the claimer drama, but surely those motors were built on a budget. Seems like it could be done again.

Not too many people built a new cars for e-mod they bought used cars that were sitting around with out a motor or used the cars they had because they couldn't afford a big mod motor . Kendo you say no sane person would build a e-mod for 300,00 to win. with a crate motor that cost 3,200 . I have had both and still have them well a big motor mod with a 10/18 thousand dollar motor pays 400,00 to win so which mod class do you think is more insane to run? And also don't get me wrong I never raced to make money it was just for the fun .
