Wing non Wing???

Well I went to the wing show this week at Inverness.
got back to the board and saw nothing here about it.
Would love to hear from some of the people that go to both shows there and what did they think.
The wing show had less cars and the race was much better there without wings.
The wing show was good bit the non wing show was over the top.
If all the sprints in Florida would take the wings off and get into one group what a show that would be.
A wing sprint is easer to drive.
The non wing car is harder to drive and needs less engine.
In the past the wing races were easer to sell to the fans but after this week im sure that is not the case at citrus co speedway now.
Got to see Bone Man race..... He needed 2 wing to hold on to that thing..lol

If you think it is easer to drive anything without down force you are stupid..

Sir, it takes driving at 10 tenths to get the best lap times wing or no wing...explain again why you feel it's easier to drive at 10 tenths with a wing?

Non wing is about the driver. Anyone who does not believe that need only go to Bubbas in Feb. when USAC come to town. 3and 4 wide in the turns, not with a wing on. Yes the wings are faster with incredible turn speed but the faster you go the narrower the track becomes.

I don't think easier really applies. The faster you go the narrower the margin for error. It is more a question of driving style and comfort zone. With a wing you are on the edge speed wise so what chances can you take. With non-wing you have more options as to entry point and line. The non-wing guys have got to have one hell of a lot of faith in who is racing beside them as they are 2and 3 wide,high and low in each corner. As a fan I will take non-wing over speed any day.

I can and I will speak from "EXPERIENCE" From a drivers stand point NON WING is by far harder to drive. The car is not "LOCKED" down as it is with a wing on. Finding balance in a NW car is a lot tougher. The car will slide around and skate out from under you entering or exiting the corner and at times down the straight. Not even near as much on a pavement or dirt sprinter with a wing...This is the pavement part...not "DIRT". Dirt is 90% of what I drove and I PROMISE you non wing is 100 times tougher on dirt.
1)wing: with the wing again the "wing" locks the car down
2) yes you go faster but the car is way way more stable
3) car is much easier to save when you get into trouble
4) creates 1 lane follow the leader racing (MOST OF The time)
5)example in Speedweeks 2014 dirt wing shows here...146 races was ran (heat/B's/Dash/Features)...out of that 146 races 137 winged races were won from the pole In Non wing only 1 out of the 18 was won from the pole and yes wings includes 360 sprints 410 sprints and mini sprints...

Now let's get into other things like less $$ for tires because they are not "HOOK" up as much without a wing you don't burn them up (if you keep the wheel spin down)...
Takes less HP because it's tough to use all of it (power) without a wing....

Driving skills: easy to drive one with a wing because of all the "STABILITY"...
no so much when you are pulling the wheels off the ground (DIRT) on exit as you are trying to reduce wheel spin yet go as fast as you can but then half way down the straightaway it wants to jump out from under ya.
Then on dirt you have holes/ruts/cushion to contend with and when you are driving off the RR it can get pretty damn hairy sometimes entering the corner when you are already on the edge and you need that "CUSHION" of dirt to help ya go even faster around the corner...hit it to hard and your in the toolies...
But with a wing just keep it mashed to the floor....drag the break a very small amount and let rip cause you got that big ole sissy flap is going to catch the air.....

leave ya with one question: when has a "WINGed SPRINT RACER" made it to the big leagues...NASCAR or INDY?...I don't mean raced there I mean went there and WON!!!!!

Tony Stewart, Jeff Gordon and Kasey Kahne have all won at the Cup level. And Ricky Stenhouse Jr. Has won on the Nationwide level.

All 3 of them got famous by racing in USAC.... non-wing cars. Stenhouse did spend,most of his time with a wing overhead. World of Outlaws guys (winged) don't make it to Nascar.

I think you meant WOO guys don't make it IN NASCAR. Steve Kinser and Dave Blaney spent time in NASCAR, they just didn't do much...

Both Blaney and Kinser were non wing guys BEFORE the started chasing $$$ with the WoO..as I said WON in top classes as Nascar or Indy....Kinser won 1 Race of Champion but never finished in the top 15 in cup....Blaney has had a few good runs but has been a back marker most of his cup career...notable NW guys..Gordon/Newman/Stewart/Kahne/Yeley/Leffler/Stenhouse (RS ran wings but went non wing to lean more car control 2 years before going to nationwide) and few dozen more...

Question has been asked over and over: "Why are Non Wing guys able to make over wing guys?" simple: CAR CONTROL

I can go down a long list of wing guys that have tried and failed MESSIRABLY ...one that was a drunk squirrel screwin a football was Sammy Swindell...as good as he is he could not adapt.
