Getting cars in the pits is great regardless of class, but getting fans in the stands takes headline divisions most of the time
He has stated publicly that he is sinking more money into the venture than the return.

You want to make 1 million owning a racetrack?
    Spend 2 million

        re: "Same boat"

Not true sir. I am uncertain about your boat, and that is your bidness, but it appears that YOUR boat is about the same size as the typical florida canoe, and I welcome you to florida.

But Tony's boat, and the modified guy's (dirt and asphault) owner's yacht is a whole lot fancier than ours, and they got more boats.

Anyhow, we agree to disagree. It's all good.

Florida is "season" in terms of tourism, which I agree is part of it... But there IS industry in FL in the major markets. Orlando, Miami, West Palm, Jacksonville, Tampa etc... NO different than Massachusetts where it's nothing but low paying jobs unless you travel to Springfield, Worcester, Boston etc. Again, EXCUSES.

A simple bit of literature for you here...

Florida has the eighteenth highest per capita income in the United States of America, at $21,557 (2000). Its personal per capita income is $30,446 (2003). Florida counties ranked by per capita income

Massachusetts is the third richest state in the United States of America, with a per capita income of $25,952 (2000) and a personal per capita income of $39,815 (2003)

I am sure these numbers have fluctuated over the years a bit, but on average, in Massachusetts you make about $5-10k more per year than in Florida. HOWEVER, start factoring in much higher taxes and more taxes in general than in Florida, cost of living, etc... It doesn't even out 100%, but it's a lot closer than you really stop to think about man.

Just simply providing you the facts which my opinions are based on to prove my arguments.
A friend of mine with a tenth grade education makes $70k+ driving a garbage truck up north,,,sounds like ya'll doing it wrong...

Same job paid him $26k down here.He had to cut lawns on weekends to make ends meet...Like I said, make all the comparisons you want. There is a reason I-95 goes both ways.

Driving a garbage truck? I smell BS right there bro, sorry... I have 2 friends that have been driving for the same company in CT for 20+ years and barely make 50... Ain't no one gonna make 70+ driving a trash truck. Maybe he WORKS for a large trash company and is some kind of Manager or something... THAT I could understand, in which case I can argue my uncle who lives in FL and is the Manager of a Publix bringing home nearly 70 as well... Average salary for drivers with Waste Management is $17hr per their website, that's not even HALF of $70k yr... I think your friend is blowing smoke up your ass...

And there's a reason people don't like to try to have a civilized conversation on here either... The above is the reason..... The its my way or the highway mentality that Florida racing has going on.

I have witnessed both sides of the spectrum.... and let me tell you Phil Jacques is spot on for both... so those I am holier then thou people on here who think they are the final say and their friend did this and did that.... it's all heresay

I don't see anything wrong with this discussion. Everyone is being civil (so far). I think most everyone is making valid points. I'll add this. I think there is money here to hunt down to sponsor racetracks. But I think only NSS, DS and SS are the only ones that can legitimately be considered as viable sports marketing venues. The others need to find out what it takes to get more fannies in the stands before they can be considered. Namely advertising. But if you are in the red, as has been stated, that's not an option. In that case you better be putting on one hell of a show. Meaning drawing cars by being as racer friendly as possible (attitudes AND costs). Sports marketing viability also makes sponsorship for racers easier too. I've raced in both places. I was lucky enough to take a job transfer and keep my up nawth salary. Good thing. There's no way I could race down here with no sponsorship if I didnt have that salary plus the tax and cost of living savings FL provides me with. Even though in effect I made way less up there at the end of the day net, I could afford to race way more because of great sponsorship. Racing in front of thousands instead of hundreds (or less) made my car a viable sports marketing entity. Its all relative. But truth be told, racefans AND racers make way less in FL than in NE. The less you make, the less cost of living savings there is for you to benefit from by living here.

A metric Monte Carlo? That explains a lot.

He might make $70K if he lives in NYC but he would also be paying $4k a month for rent on a one bedroom apartment......

As far as sponsorship goes, it's really not like that anymore either here sadly. It's all washed away for some reason. Just don't get it. A few guys got it, but the majority have blank cars...
