        Gene,

The Minicups were suppose to make up the same race as we are from the rainout on the 3rd. However one of the Suggs team said that they would rather not run, with all the other stuff going on. I told them they needed to talk to the track, I was just posting the schedule I was given.

        reddog18

On the Sportsman those were taken off per Rex and I think I saw they are scheduled now on the 31st for a 50 Lapper.

So the schedule will be this minus the minicups.

        Thanks

          question

I have a friend that would like to bring his truck, but he is worried the Ricky Brooks may have his cam doctor there, doing the cam profiles? Is there any truth to that? He said he can pass the vacuum test, but does not want to have the profile done on his cam for obvious reasons. I love the truck class, and hope to make it to some of the races, that are not at a-dale. Vince

            Anser for Turn Left

I will start by saying that Ricky Brooks is only going to be teching and race director for the Late Models, he will not be techman on weekly races.

Now into the reference about the cams, we can call for that same profile weather it be by cam doctor or by pulling and taking it somehwere to have it done. We will go by the rules in our tech. Vaccum check is part of checking but not totally the answer. I would say only this if the truck and motors are by the rules, your friend will not ahve any issues. But I would make sure it is as part of what we believe as that the series needs to be firm and fair to the rules.

Our tech procedure is that we put items on a board, then the top 3 roll dice and those three things are teched along with the normal weight, frame hieghts etc. It is open so all can see it, and doen to make it fair.

Hope that answers your question. Thanks

Wrong is Wrong. sounds like they need some tech there.

                Benny to be clear

Benny the question is asked about trucks, this is the Coulter truck series that I run. Ricky was simply hired to do Late Models.
The other classes on weekly basis are teched by Carl Green who does a good job, they have had planty of DQ's and all this year.

Our series works with the tracks and their tech guy when we are there, we have had a DQ and checked several things in our first two races. I make the final calls as Joey Coulter asked based on what is done and seen by the tech person and our rules. We are trying to make sure it is open and fair to all, by doing the board, then nobody know what to aspect to be teched and it is done openly in front of them.

We allow teams to see total weight and left if they want, just not the idividual wheel weights and cross etc. as that is set up info. Joey and I want to be firm and fair to all.

                Thanks

No Benny - not the case !

That is not the case, just that he is not our tech guy. That is it period. Why do people want to always stir things up.....I do not get it.

We teched and caught people in 2012, I was away from it last year, but we will tech them, and can pull them and have them profiled but it will be our decision and in our tech process.

We are working to do this the right way, but this was to answer a rumor that is untrue. That is it.

                      digging around

Not trying to stir the pot, but I had to do some digging on this cam/vacuum issue. My friend came clean with me, he has a cam with the correct lift, he just added duration to it, which keeps the valves open longer. What that does, it allows him to turn more rpm's, which in turn gets him off the corners quicker. He has a ZZ4, Chevrolet says that vacuum should be 20 inches. He said the rules say 18. His truck really has 15-16 inches, at a certain Rpm. He had his tachometer re-tuned so when they check vacuum he is revving the engine higher then the number they want. Anyway, what he has said is the way the series checks cams is barbaric, if Ricky were to show up 3/4 of the trucks could not pass. Vince

I can't decide who's worse, the blatant cheater or the guy who calls himself a "friend" but outs the guy.

Anybody ever tought of going away with those motor rules that never ends.

Have a cheap design rear suspension, like all solid mounted rod end 3 points rear suspension, absolutly no torque absorbing devices, and a rock hard 8 inches tire. Motor: cast iron block, cylinder head must retain OEM intake exhaust bolt pattern, 360 CI Max, RPM 6500 MSD Chip.

By the time you will get to 400HP, you will run out of traction. Anything higher is a loss. And a 400HP motor is cheap to build or get today. We all know some will go for the moon motors, but that is the nature of the beast. And the best thing is, it does not go any faster, probably slower.

                              my point is......

My point is, to be competitive, with a create engine you must:

                              1. buy an engine.$

                              2. buy a different cam and have it installed $$

                              3. have you tach recalibrated $$

                              4. buy replacement bolts for the engine. $$$

The main problem is the series has been letting it go on for so long, if they were to start to police it, it might be the end of the series.

My solution, give everybody two months, get this cam doctor device that Ricky Brooks uses, and start checking cams on the top 5, every race, along with regular tech on other parts of the truck.

You then start to build the class up, with people knowing, they can go down to there local car dealer and buy an engine and be competitive.

This is not just isolated to just the truck series either, I would implement this kind of tech in all create engine classes. Why do you think Ricky Brooks does it???? Why do you think 1/2 the trucks would not show up if Ricky was going to be there???
