Matt, u can do that now. There's really no rules on sportsman bodies other then roof height and spoiler size..... other then that it's pretty well whatever you want excluding side boards and sprint car wings haha

Yes, you're right. I just sort of described V-8 powered Mod Minis. Something to think about. Young fans get the look they know, all fans get something different, and we all get the sound of V-8s. Racers get to use virtually all the parts they already have and get to use a chassis design they know.
Something like this was done a few years ago, small cars with v-8s. I think they raced mostly in the Carolinas, but i think the series was based over in the Daytona area.

The wheelbase would be shorter for some cars than others depending on what body you want to run. And for the sake of stock appearing bodies the wheelbase should be as from the factory. Would a very short wheelbase Toyota be a better race car than a longer wheelbase Mustang? Don't know. But it would get worked out.Originally posted by CCuzzone9788 View PostMatt, u can do that now. Anderson elite. Full tube chassis, does not look cheap.
Has to be a stock clip, but superior geometry.
Ya know, "sportsman" cars at one time were six cylinder 33 Chevys. Later they put V8's in, still later they went to bob-tailed sprint cars and called them modifieds. The six cylinder guys all eventually quit, and probably felt that the process was "unfair", and maybe it was.
Nonetheless, the politicin' needs to be done with the tracks--who control the rules.
And the ultimate message is being delivered by Garrity--stay home. Ironically, that could ultimately kill the class and permanently park his car.

Craig, let me say you're a real good dude and I respect your opinion but I think you are a little biased with your opinion due to your close connection with the people involved. First my performance at the 3 FUPS wreckfests I competed in have nothing to do with this issue. BTW I got caught up in wrecks each of those races. I don't think you're being mean. I'm the new kid (old man) on the block and you guys are tough. But we have been getting better and believe it or not, I have been doing my homework. I don't buy the 2-3 tenths deal on the body and besides thats a whole 'nother argument which has nothing to do with this discussion. Now, I agree the car passes tech at Showtime but it expressly calls the car illegal in the written rules. Citrus changed the rules just for this car and now, according to you, are not even following those written rules. I seriously doubt NSS will let this car run. They are the toughest tech around. My point is this is not about you, me or Daniel (a great driver). Its about the written rules and tracks not following them for one car over others. That coupled with the damage to car counts allowing this change will potentially do ( as it has done with Mod Minis and Limited/Pro Late Models). Were starting to beat a dead horse here and we are both starting to repeat ourselves. Let's agree to disagree and move on. I wish everyone good luck tomorrow at Sunshine. It's a damn good purse. Cheers!

Well damn what was the alleged rule change.
Is it a secret? Or is it real?
Fine if it is but put it out there for all competitor's.
If you know it Scott let's have it.

Fast cars and great drivers are what we should aspire to be, within the spirit of the
rules of course. And the rules should be same for all.

And I'm not telling ANYONE to stay home. Please come race this race. Its a great purse and if there's no car count Yoho won't offer it again. I just dont want to see history repeat itself. Its a known fact, rule changes that cost money kill car counts. My decisions as to what I do with my car and where I race are mine alone. I would never try to make cars not race. I'm just trying to be informative and warn of what can come of this.

I can agree to disagree. ... lol.... I'd just like to know which rule it doesn't follow? I'd bet that you aren't 100% sure what the car has just like numerous other racers. Then it was either explained or they were allowed to look at it on stands. Not 1 person that has actually looked at it has any issues with it. That's all I'm saying. Desoto disallowed it a week after he won.... The reasoning "a crate car shouldn't be able to go that fast" nothing with the chassis. If it was a chassis issue he'd have been thrown out in tech

Sportsman
Well so much for trying to see who may come this weekend.
With all the bitching about if a car is or isnt legal just may or may not cause people to stay home.
So if your werent trying to further damage the class some of you are doing a DAMN good job of it.

With all due respect, I would suggest we are all big boys and racers in general are...strong willed, let's call it. They are gonna do what they are gonna do.
And fyi, in my opinion, Mr Garrity is very respectful of others, their cars, their driving skills, and their rules.
He also is entitled to his opinion.
Ironically, the Z1 is legal at Showtime, Scott's car is not.
Happy Memorial Day, all!
