Its good that 2nd pays very well since the Z1 will likely show up with their "exotic" Sportsman and wax the field.

      Exotic??

Thats funny.........lots of exotics out there. Since you are kinda a voice for the sportsman maybe you can shed some light for me. can you run open differentials these days? Light weight flywheels? Brinn transmissions? 4 barrels for crates? Not pointing any fingers just curious?

Thanks Openwm53. I just try to bring to light the concerns and desires of myself (and of most of the guys I talk to in our class). Most guys don't want to be so "public", but I don't mind. EVERYONE that is involved in our sport locally (fans, drivers, track operators, etc) reads this site and it can be a great vehicle for change.

As for Sportsman cars, open diffs (lockers) are only allowed at Citrus and only in stock rears. Flywheels must be stock type and weigh 14 lbs ( 7" multi disc clutch w flexplate) allowed at Desoto w wt penalty), stock transmission, and 4 bbl's on Crates (Holley 80541 650 cfm only). Most Sportsman these days are similar to mine. Old LLM type frame (gen 2 Camaro snout mated to offset tube frame), stock front steering (no racks), 3 link, quick change, GM 602 crate motor with 4bbl. As for the look of the Sportsman cars, they are very exotic. Everything from ABC bodies (like mine), to dirt LM bodies, to homemade and hybrids of homemade and store bought pieces. I think it's part of the appeal of our class to the fan. You just dont know what the next car coming out of the pit gate will look like! But that's not the kind of "exotic" I'm talikng about here...

                  You would be correct, sir.

The smaller tires/sideways handling doesn't hurt, either.

For too long the limited late models have looked like late models--only slower.

These cars are cool in their own right.

Sorry Rick. I have plans with my family this weekend. Besides, my car is illegal with Showtime's exclusive track width rule. I would have to buy rims to compete there. That's one hell of a purse though. Nice job!

I completely agree with Old School on this one. The wild diversity is appealing to the fans. This could grow to be a great class again.

any pictures of those car in a bunch so we can appreciate the diversity and maybe convince some hard headed promoters up this way to do the same.

                              Here is a real "sportsman"!

Actually, cars like this were cool, and the current Sportsman class reminds me of them.

As an aside, like Dickie Anderson, I have never seen old "hot shoe" put a fender on someone that didn't hit him first.

In both cases, payback could be quite the, well, you know...
