    DeMan 951

if you know anything about me at all , you know i love the drivers and i hate to see them treated badly...(even the ones i dont know) ;-) i think this was a tragic mistake on Auburndales behalf and i surely hope Rex will realize that and make ammends to Aaron and the others.
No matter what we think about the track owners, we really dont want to lose any tracks. im not sure what the answer is... the owners are pretty much the only ones who can make that happen. they have the power to make or break racing in Florida and yet some of them seem hell bent on destruction.
some of the problems are the way we as fans and some drivers approach the owners too. they own the place and we tell them how to run it... lol there are diplomatic ways to handle problems.
bullying them will NOT work..what is the result of parking and not racing.?.. losing fans and no money for the track. this can maybe happen once but the bills still have to be paid so it is another nail in the coffin.
NO TRACK CAN HAVE ALL THE DRIVERS!!!! YOU ALL NEED TO FIND A WAY TO BE SUCCESSFUL WITHOUT BEATING EACH OTHER TO DEATH!
DeMan... our hands are tied. they are all sitting on gold mines (real estate)...
If John Sarppraicone decides to sell his track property we will lose one of the best facilities around. he will take his profits and move on and we will lose another track. If Rex Guy keeps butting heads with drivers and tracks, soon he will have an empty facility... it is up to THEM to make sure their businesses are successful. if they dont care then how can we?
Bobby Diehl has worked so hard at CCMP with the unlimited help of Linda Jericka and the staff. their primary goal is to make the drivers happy and next the fans! he is smart enough to know that without drivers and fans, he may as well go back to teaching. Bobby is a "people person"... he makes mistakes but when he does, HE FIXES THEM! it is not beneath him to admit a goof... the problem is, some of the owners have tunnel vision and they don't think they are doing anything wrong...
well you asked me how i felt. i usually try to be on the positive side of racing and support the tracks. i seldom reply to the negative side of racing... God knows there are enough people on here who take care of that... and i dont mean that as an insult. sometimes sugar coating things is wrong...
all in all...i love racing...i never want to see a track closed.... i love our drivers....and i pray the track owners who are having troubles can find solutions... ;-) you asked...hahahaha

It is too bad that Mr Guy didn't appear on the show to defend his actions. The man they on didn't seem to know much but maybe the track will learn something from this. Thanks to the hosts of the show for bringing this out into the open.

I don't usually comment on these things, I try to stay neutral. I enjoy working at all tracks. That said, this incident is a first for me, unless I've forgotten. In the 55 years I have been involved with racing, I have never seen any thing like this. Some body told about Desoto and Sunshine Figure 8
class. Sunshine held them early and Desoto held them late so the cars could
make both shows. The Desoto cars went up there and the Sunshine cars came here, and both tracks won. I guess his reasoning was loyality. He probably felt they had betrayed them. I really think Arron and the other fellow should get an apology if nothing else. Its not rocket science to realize that 2 more cars makes a better show and helps pay the light bill. just my opinion. Bob...

All Auburndale has to do is tailor their rulebook. Make every divisions rules different from any other area asphalt track. This would prevent racers from coming in late because they were racing somewhere else.
          The car counts will explode!

I can't believe you said that. So make a-dale rules different than other tracks?? If you have an a-dale ruled car, then you can't run at other tracks if you want.......Your screwed to just one track------HAVE FUN WITH THAT SIR.

You obviously missed the point of what he was saying. Auburndale doesnt want their racers going anywhere so that is the best way to make sure it doesnt happen. Track promoters have been doing it for years. Write a rule book where cars that are at your track are either not legal or not competitive anywhere else.

Isn't FASCAR (kind-of, sort-of) doing that right now?

Pretty much, especially with classes like the superstocks and sportsman. Not real sure about mods.

I know this would'nt be cheap but I think would be a blast is have some kind of charity poker run with a group of racecars at several tracks in a couple of days. I know it would never work unless ONE person/group owned all of the tracks.

Exception to that thought....A few years ago Ocala(asphalt), Citrus, and Bronson got together and consolidated their rules so we COULD move around a little. Ocala was Friday nights and the other two were Saturday nights. It seemed to work just fine for 3 tracks in the same general area.
The rules were actually closer to a LLM than sportsman so our class had a problem running with, say, the SSS series at other tracks.

you know i dont post its been 2 years but this is the thing all racers are tring to change in this state we as racers should stick together changing rules and not letting cars race this really makes me sick we need to all have the same rules thru the state for all classes and than the owners would have to treat us like gold to get us to there track (investment) not ours are our cars that can race were we racer want too i personally would rather race 20 cars than 5 and would like to see the same rules so i can have a choice the way i see it we racers are not going to have any tracks to race, fans cant afford to come, racers loose this bring tears to my eyes for all who love this sport

Sorry, Ocala, I did'nt mean to rile you up, I think our South Carolina friend explained my post.
Here in Atlanta, we have 2 asphalt tracks about 15 miles apart. You cannot run your equipment at both tracks without changes. One of the tracks owns an in-state asphalt touring series, but instead of having race dates at the track 15 miles away, racers have to travel 200 miles for certain race dates.
By the way, both tracks are struggling at the gate and car counts are way down.
The folks on Karnac have been screaming since the day this board began, that race track owners should unite and work together. 8 years later, nothing has changed.

No problem. Not really rialed at you Semiole, I'm just tired of these tracks throwing a wrench into an already broke motor. Seems like a never ending battle, just like Iraq and my old stomping ground Viet-Nam.

Now working together to help each other out is something that takes common sense and we all know that that is a lost form for some people these days...

                                Notice Anything?

we were at Auburndale that night and i might be able to shed a little light on the subject.

we ran the Street Stock which was about in the middle of the schedule and then loaded up and headed over to the pay window because we've got a 2 hour ride back and we aren't going to stay the whole night if we don't have too. when we pulled out of our pit box the Late Models were pulling onto the track and then i think V8 Bombers were scheduled to finish the night.

coming around turn 1 we saw a rig go hauling butt in on the pit entrance road but we couldn't see who it was. i was wondering what the heck they were doing, i figured they'd missed the start of the Late Model race.

while waiting for payout in the office Rex stepped in. i made a comment about "who the heck was that who's trying to show up for a v8 bomber race at the last second?"

Rex said it was Morris showing up at the last second and that he had made the show. i think they held the start for several laps.

Rex then turned to the counter lady and went on an extended diatribe about how Morris was going to pay a penalty fee ( as if starting in the back and then breaking wasn't enough ) for "late race entry" and to be extra sure that they collected pit entries for "every single person in that hauler". he also made some kind of comment about Wayne trying to horn in on the LM purse.

let's see, show up at the last second with the suspension set for another track, the wrong gear in the car and no practice. you don't run qualifying and this means you're trying to screw the track somehow?

me and Ron were just kind of looking at each other going "W T F?" we put it down to Rex having a bad night.

                                evidently, we were wrong.

What does the right or wrong gear in the cars have to do with anything?

whether Auburndale has a gear rule or not, a Punta Gorda gear is going to be too steep for A'dale ( IOW, legal ). that is a performance penalty on top of lining up at the back of the field.

if that's the justification A'dale is putting out, it's a steaming pile of crap and every racer knows it.

the only thing i can think is that the A'dale LM purse is high enough that he's losing money on the race entry fee and expecting to make it back on tire and fuel sales. but if so, that's not the racers fault or problem.

Making a rule that everyone needs to be checked in prior to heat races can be tough on some of the racers... In these days people are having to work long hours and sometimes barely have enough time time to get ready and make it to the races...

rules are made so the tracks can have something written down that they don't enforce. heh.

Growing up in NY, there were several tracks within driving distance runnng on the same nights. If one track ran the Modifieds first at one track, they would quickly load up and head to another.

this used to happen all over the country. the Alabama Gang and most of the rest of the early NASCAR guys were notorious for running 4+ races a weekend if they could.

for some reason, asphalt promoters just can't seem to grasp this anymore.
