Kyle Petty did not win a cup race until his 8th year. His stats are weak.

All he ever had was a dumb pony tail and daddy's money.

Richard may be legend ( or may not be ) but that's not what this thread or my post is about. It's about not having enough class to keep your mouth shut and keeping your opinion to yourself, when voicing it is going to hurt someone or hurt someone's reputation.

Richard Petty may be a legend but lets face it he is also a PR stunt anymore he really doesn't own the team anymore, he hasn't driven in so long he wouldn't have a clue what these new cars need to go fast so if he isn't also a PR stunt I don't know what else you should call him.

            Maybe

I have to admit that a lot of what you guys are saying is right on point. The King had his day just like Dale sr. had his. The problem is that the so called "analysts / announcers" just can't let it play itself out. If they would quit talking about what she MIGHT do, all the time, people would maybe look at her situation differently. Not everyone who straps in, wins. Some drivers never do. Like I've said, she just needs to get passed the "being nice" stage and become a hard ass like the guys who win. True she doesn't need to validate herself to anyone, and she doesn't need to win. Maybe the King thinks so, for whatever reason. He should look back at "his" time and remember all the great drivers that never won. As much of a legend that he is, I think the sport has passed him by. It's a shame. Guys like him and Dale sr. are the kind of people the sport needs.
Now Kyle? I wonder if he was standing next to Pops during the interview, or was he bringing up the rear as usual.

It ran on almost every major media outlet today and now we are talking about it......Just like Nasscar wants. PR at it's finest with little to no effort on their part.
Normalcy is a myth. what is perfectly normal for the Cheetah, Becomes absolute chaos for the Antelope.

I find it funny that same people that bash the networks every single week for showing too much Danica are now coming to her defense.

Petty answered a direct question, had they asked the same question about Landon Cassill his answer would have been the same.

He also would have had to give the same answer about the last couple of years of his own career. It was uncalled for, but it's done. It will be the talk of the social media world until the Kardashians do something new.

Now you're talking, Matt. Bring on the Kardashians!!!!

I also read her response and she showed some class , although "class" is foreign to many in the racing game. She, herself, offered no criticism of Petty or his son. Far as she was concerned they said what they said -- so be it.

I agree that she hasn't shown brightly since driving cabs but I haven't seen too many shining lights from the stock car crowd, running at Indy, now or in the past. A few tried with mediocre or no success. Smokey Yunick was one of the most successful guys to tackle Indy and he was (at the time) a car builder, not a driver. Very few Formula or Indy drivers have any great success with the slower, heavier, poorer handling stocks. Mario and A.J. each had a win and a couple of other decent finishes but the great majority have faired poorly. "Rubbin's NOT racing" when it comes to Indy cars -- it's just a quick trip to the Golden Speedway for you or the guy your trying to move.

Maybe ask Boneman. He's a guy that I and a lot of others respect. See what he thinks about putting a wheel under some guy in those open wheelers. I'd bet he'd give you the same answer as in Indy cars.

I had hoped that she would try to say something funny about the Petty comment, yet still zing him. True to Nascar form of keeping your mouth shut, she didn't. Media day was a bore as usual. I kept trying to imagine the drivers giving interviews like pro wrestlers do, and what they would sound like. It helped pass the time.

Because Stock Car racing is like Wrestling and Indy car racing is like Ballet .
I'd be like Warren Sapp on dancing with the stars .

There haven't been many successful crossovers between Indy cars and stock cars. Foyt of course could drive anything, not only NASCAR but also USAC stock cars where he won the championship. Only other real success going from Indy cars to NASCAR is Tony Stewart.

                            Watch this !!!

As Danica skillfully avoids the accident in front of her . No wait.
I mean as Danica gets caught up in somenes else's... no not that either.
As Danica wrecks for no apparent reason and then doesn't straighten the wheel and hit the throtlle when the car straightens out. I guess she hadn't grabbed back ahold of the wheel yet . That one little jerk to the left at the end cost her a finish . But I'm sure there will be other opinions.

I notice she didn't hit anyone or anything, the same can't be said for the drivers around her. And that goes for all of the wrecks during the evening.

That was my point. She should not have been involved in the wreck , at all.
She was in dead-ass last and should have been able to see what was happening in front of her. She lost control , much to my pleasure, and was then hit by Stenhouse . She presented her driver's door at a very inopportune moment by not gassing it up right as the car straightened out at the end of her spin . But hey, I'm a rabid Danica hater so maybe my view was blurred by that.
