  • what's going on at Ellisville in 2014?

    Anybody know?
I see alot of grousing about OSW on here but at least it appears they are trying to get something together for 2014. Also if you live in central FL you have alternatives you can go to- NSS, Auburndale, Showtime, Desoto, etc.
Up here Ellisville ran a race in October and we haven't heard a peep out of them since- is it any wonder why they don't pull any cars?
It looks like South GA motorsports park has thrown in the towel on the circle track so there's no alternative there. Where I'm at 5 Flags and SAS are closer than Citrus and NSS so it looks like 3 hour drives to see late model racing in 2014.......

P.S. even Bronson has something going on (test and tune) and appears to have some plans in the works for 2014.

Ellisville has their 2013 banquet on Jan. 11th. Guess we'll find out more then.
Web site is www.ellisvillespeedway.net for latest info.

yeah I see they're having a banquet for last year- great.
As you point out they have a website, why don't they use it? Racing season starts in about 60 days and most all tracks have their schedules out by now and yet I have not heard or read anything about what Ellisville is doing in 2014.
I thought they were trying to turn things around over there and I have been trying to support them by going to the track fairly regularly. I guess it's just going to be like last year- 3 to 4 cars per class but still taking 4 hours to run the program.

Yes the Fords have struggled... and it's talk like yours that just adds to the problem.

              perception

I really laugh at these post, the idea that someone pointing out the obvious is in control of the fate of any race track is crazy. Why shine shit? It is what it is........ I don't know anything about Ellisville nor do I need to. If people are so concerned of getting a bad image, maybe it's time to do something. What image is being hurt here? Afraid of losing the huge car count? when a track gets things going, makes an attempt to do right by the racers, and fans, without having to have anyone babysit and guide them through the process, THEN lets be defensive. Until then...... lets just stay honest and real here.

I created and maintain the Ellisville website and I only put on there what I am given by the track management. I, along with everyone else, am waiting for news from the track as to what the 2014 season holds, if anything. Nobody but the Fords know and I assure you that as soon as I get the information, I will post it. But I don't expect to have any information to pass along until after the banquet. But, if there is anything else that I can do to make the site better, please let me know.

From a driver to a fan, thank you for supporting the track. We hope that you will return next year, if the track is open.

                Merry Christmas!

Don I understand what you are saying and Jim I get where you're coming from- I do not agree with you guys but I appreciate your comments.
The person who runs the website basically says he has not heard anything for the last 7 or 8 weeks and we probably won't for another 3 until after the banquet- so really my original question has been answered. Thank you Mr. Alldredge.
Look I have been going to that track since 1992 and was there on opening night when it became Ellisville Speedway, I would love to see it succeed and profit as much as anyone.

I heard from a Farley good sorce that the fords wont be back next year.
Don't know thst as fact but that is the rumor.
I know what its like to spend that kind of money at a sport and have to walk away.
The fords had alwase treated me well when I had the place and they raced there. Good people and I wish them the best either way.

Don62- What do your sources have to say about the track for 2014 if the Fords are not involved- any word on someone else maybe trying their hand at it?

My 2 cents- I honestly don't think it had anything to do with the Fords. From what I see now and know about from the last 20+ years around here- paved Late Model racing is about done in north Florida/south Georgia.
Bronson hasn't run them forever, SGMP has nothing going on and even nice payouts couldn't get them to come to Ellisville. Meanwhile the dirt tracks thrive up here and put money back into their facilities- NFS, Albany, Needmore (just opened last season).
One other thing I will add is this- Columbia is showing her age and it's really going to take some heavy capital investment to get that place squared away.

Posted on their F/B page today that they will not reopen in 2014.
Thanks all the drivers and fans for the support last year.
                            Done.

It takes money upfront to run a racetrack. Putnam and Ellisville are perfect examples of people leasing tracks that they shouldn't. They go in with the best intentions, try hard, but the necessary money doesn't come in. You have to have enough in the beginning to run the place, to put on races, hire good people, make needed repairs and improvements. The owners who keep leasing these tracks know that the folks they're leasing to have no chance of making it. They seem happy to put the down payments in their pockets and wait for the gates to close and then lease it to another man with stars in his eyes but not enough money to run it.
