  • A-Dale FUPS thoughts

First things first... there was a very scary moment when Legend racer Danielle Stratton pounded head first into the turn 4 wall (before even getting to the green flag), and it took somewhere between 10-15 minutes for an ambulance was brought in 'from town'.

There is NO EXCUSE for not having the properly trained people to already be 'on sight'. Those few minutes could have been the difference between life and death. Without knowing the rest of the details, since they never TOLD us, insurely hope it turned out to NOT be tragic.

Secondly..... the announcer, and race director both need to be fired, if not shot on-sight. Never seen worse from either position. Every single caution turned into 5-8 laps of BS, before the green came out again..... and of course, the announcer had ZERO commentary, or explainations of WHY things happened the way they did.

The racing itself was VERY good.... it only lasted 4-5 laps at a time. The other divisions pretty much ran green to checkered.

There are several racers that probably won't be back, due to questionable calls... Steve Dorer being one of them. A bunch of cars were allowed to be used as bulldozers, with NO penalty. Others, Dorer included, got into a 'gray area' but got sent packing for the night..... Yet Jonathan Guy did much worse, and more than once, but he gets a top-5.

On the flip side I was VERY glad to see Jessie Dutilly win, in tribute to his Dad that passed away this week. You can't write a better script, but this one was NOT given to him by anyone.

Daniel Webster......confirmed once again of what I'd been thinking.... THAT M'fer can flat-out WHEEL a racecar. After a late race race red flag, he couldn't re-fire (I think he was out of fuel), he pitted, got repairs, started at the back, and TORE throug the field to race Dutilly to the flag.

The guy that 'should have' won, and the guy that made him work his ass off to get it.

The pair of black 42 cars is an example of why the 3-spin rule should be in place. Not sure if this rule was used as written, but I CAN vouch that the biggest cheers of the night came from the Black flag being thrown at one if them. No offense to these drivers personally, but sometimes it just ain't your week.... don't %$#k it up for everyone else.

Lots of racing, lots of passing, tons of flapping sheet metal..... but overall, if this is supposed to be an example of Floridas Finest... This one struck out.

Unless this track, or this Series gets things under control ..... I've spent my last dollar of support. The only letter of FUPS that is true is 'Florida'..... it sure isn't United, they only have a single Promoter, and 'Series' won't make another year.

When it takes over 2 hours to run 125 laps, on a 1/4 mile track....... EVERYTHING was done wrong......

A whole bunch of people, from top to bottom, should be ashamed tonight.

You nailed it on a lot of stuff Jerry. Thanks out to Webster for making it watchable. He also said it was electrical that caused his car not to refire. From back of the pack to 2nd in 21 laps was something to see on that bullring. He is one of the best young racers out there. As far as Danielle goes she sent a pic from the hospital to one of my friends in the stands sporting her pink full leg cast. Looked to be doing good other than the broke leg. I did see prior to the race two emt's. These guys can only do so much and an ambulance should be on site. That was the wildest super race I have seen since Lake City in 91. The 42 car, and the 53 are why the 3 spin rule should be used. On another note Webster has given away two races due to bad luck. A few months ago at citrus he had a tire go down under an extended red flag giving Anderson the win, and yesterday the ignition box, but that is part of racing.

        A-dale/fups

Agreed, Adale is crashfest, FUPS is a joke, no tech, unfair calls, favoritism, no integrity by the people running it. Since when is a series that races at one track is a series?

They claim for 2014 they will have more tracks. Time will tell.

There was good side by side racing yesterday. You can run 2 wide, just need to grow a set. Most wrecks where caused by lack of oxygen from the drivers over tightening their helmets. Over all it was good racing in all classes.

The EMT that are at our track are certified here in Polk County they work for Polk County EMT and have all the equiptment on their truck. The only thing they don't do it transport.

Still unacceptable. If that had been my child in that car, and had to wait 15 minutes for an ambulance, there would have been hell to pay.

              NO EXCUSES Carol.....

We heard she broke her leg, that was the rumor where we were sitting. Don't really know. I agree that the laps under caution were a little long as well. I don't understand why they give them the sign to double up and give them the white flag a lap later before the green. The white flag should tell them to double up and get ready for the green. Just my thoughts.

This is the report from her mom posted on Facebook:

Danielle doesn’t remember the actual crash just screaming from the pain. She was taken to Winter Haven hospital. (Dr. Gibbs and staff were wonderful.) She was released from the hospital around 8:30 last night and will see an orthopedic specialist this morning.

Her right foot is broken (the bone is actually shattered) and her ankle (Talus) is completely broken and dislocated. Her left foot is extremely bruised, making it basically impossible for her to walk. We have been told to expect surgery and a long recovery. (Her recovery is in God’s hands (the ULTIMATE DOCTOR) I believe she will be recovering and back to the track in no time!

Danielle just posted this a short while ago:

Unfortunately, I did not get the best news from the specialist. He decided that he will be sending me to a traumatologist due to the severity of my injuries for the surgery. He said I should not be on my leg for three months. Fortunately, God is in control and I will make it through this!

Danielle is a real sweet young lady... please pray for her as this is a rough time of year for her and her family to be going through this...

The qualified med people at the track and all the eqpt will give the driver all the care that he needs
.It takes a good team 15min to package a driver to be transported and the ambulance takes 10 min in most cases. this practice has been presented but the county to hire there off duty people as to not tie up there trucks
the ambulance is a truck that transports the people to the hospital. Most of them don't have any mort eqpment than the good tracks have.
the county has to charge $200 to 300 per hour to have it sit there on stand bye and the county looses it for response .Tampa had a unit for this and used it for training . we payed them $200 a night. Lasted about 3 years.
When the average time of pratcise and race is 10 hrs you cant think that the track cam pay $12,000 a month.
If someone else has a better idea im sure that the tracks would love to here it.
Rember if a track buys its own they still have to wait for the transport unit. You cant transport with a private unit.
We have had them for years to keep the Jerrys of the world quiet but they met the transport ambulance at the gate ..

are u one of the 12

                        Misinformed

frasson118... You obviously did not talk to Steve Dorer, I did and he said he wrecked David Green on purpose cause of the way he was driving everyone that tried to pass him including Steve... then he chose to park the car when he got sent to the rear and he will be back as will his teammate Donnie Varco(#94). Second, the 42 of John Guy started in the rear twenty fourth got sent to the rear twice and finished third but I am guessing that you did not see that or see Danielle Stratton wave to the crowd either. There are properly trained and fully equipped EMTS on sight as per your first post. It's hard to blame the track or the series for the drivers wrecking every three or four laps. I do agree with the three spin rule and that it took too long to get the race going. Everyone of the twenty four cars there have the right to race... They all paid there way in just like you!!! I was glad to see Dutilly win & little webster can drive a racecar. I am sure you made some new friends and i think that FUPS will be around next year...

FUPS hasn't really been around this year, so I don't have much hope for next year.
Safety at the race track is always an issue. Big tracks have on site care centers. Every short track should have at least 2 of the best trained EMTs available. And those 2 EMTs should have all of the up to date equipment and supplies they might need. If that's too expensive then the track has no business being open.
And for a winning race car go to Jimmy Cope.
