There is NO EXCUSE for not having the properly trained people to already be 'on sight'. Those few minutes could have been the difference between life and death. Without knowing the rest of the details, since they never TOLD us, insurely hope it turned out to NOT be tragic.

Secondly..... the announcer, and race director both need to be fired, if not shot on-sight. Never seen worse from either position. Every single caution turned into 5-8 laps of BS, before the green came out again..... and of course, the announcer had ZERO commentary, or explainations of WHY things happened the way they did.

The racing itself was VERY good.... it only lasted 4-5 laps at a time. The other divisions pretty much ran green to checkered.

There are several racers that probably won't be back, due to questionable calls... Steve Dorer being one of them. A bunch of cars were allowed to be used as bulldozers, with NO penalty. Others, Dorer included, got into a 'gray area' but got sent packing for the night..... Yet Jonathan Guy did much worse, and more than once, but he gets a top-5.

On the flip side I was VERY glad to see Jessie Dutilly win, in tribute to his Dad that passed away this week. You can't write a better script, but this one was NOT given to him by anyone.

Daniel Webster......confirmed once again of what I'd been thinking.... THAT M'fer can flat-out WHEEL a racecar. After a late race race red flag, he couldn't re-fire (I think he was out of fuel), he pitted, got repairs, started at the back, and TORE throug the field to race Dutilly to the flag.

The guy that 'should have' won, and the guy that made him work his ass off to get it.

The pair of black 42 cars is an example of why the 3-spin rule should be in place. Not sure if this rule was used as written, but I CAN vouch that the biggest cheers of the night came from the Black flag being thrown at one if them. No offense to these drivers personally, but sometimes it just ain't your week.... don't %$#k it up for everyone else.

Lots of racing, lots of passing, tons of flapping sheet metal..... but overall, if this is supposed to be an example of Floridas Finest... This one struck out.

Unless this track, or this Series gets things under control ..... I've spent my last dollar of support. The only letter of FUPS that is true is 'Florida'..... it sure isn't United, they only have a single Promoter, and 'Series' won't make another year.

When it takes over 2 hours to run 125 laps, on a 1/4 mile track....... EVERYTHING was done wrong......

A whole bunch of people, from top to bottom, should be ashamed tonight.
      '
Im not a good friend of Rex or Rick. I have known both of them for a long time.
I wasent there at the race bit I think the race took to long. The time I set for years to the crew was 1 min a lap from the start ur engines to the winning pic.
I did check with lots of old racers and fans and they said you were at a different race than they were.
Guy went to the rear 3 times and finished 4th. sounds like he earned his spot
Try to fing as much good as you can when u post or sent it to the crybaby list ware no one reads it

Don....do a little math here, using your own formula:

At 1 minute per lap scheduled, your allowing a 125 lap race to last 125 minutes. That is 2 HOURS, and 5 minutes.

That's perfectly acceptable to you? How about the 22 caution flags? How about 5, 6, or 8 laps to go green when every car on the track is running (but not in order, because nobody PUT them where they supposed to be in the first place). How about nearly 10 cautions thrown involving 1 team?

Yep..... I guess I'm a whiner and complainer that isn't happy with a show like that. I guess I'm spoiled to the point that I want an announcer that actually says SOMETHING meaningful, maybe see track officials and crews trying to hustle instead of mosey along, and a feature race that doesn't take TWO HOURS to run.

Yep.... I suck because I'm not happy with that display of incompetence all the way around. But don't worry too much.... this was my last visit to the track or Series. Won't be hearing anymore complaints from me.

They also won't be seeing any dollars from me either....

...... prophetic words from a guy that ruined everything he touched in racing....

Defending a show like this, only goes to show yet 1 more reason that you're out of touch. You weren't even there... but since I complain, you have to defend.

You never have, and never will get it. CLUELESS.

At least I can go to any track, anywhere.... Can't say the same for you.

I quit on that track about 2 years ago... Its a shame because in the 90's I went there every week. Tyrannical leadership and absolute incompetence did me in. After Wayne Anderson got screwed I quit on the series.

Jerry... The most successful two year period for Orlando SpeedWorld was from mid-1985 through late 1987 when Mr. Nerone was the promoter, the last one under owner Billy Herndon before Clyde Hart bought the track... From what I hear, Herndon was a difficult person to work with but during the time Don was there he was allowed to do his own thing and the place thrived... There have never been that many cars competing there before or since and man, did we have fun!!!

                        a

I was there too! I don't know how Don did it but I saw first hand what a successful show looked like and to be a part of. I was there with a group of 4 cars.

That is why I don't pick on Don on here. Not sure of his other ventures, but that one was a winner.

I wish Danielle a speedy recovery. That is a bad angle to hit the wall.....I know, I have done it myself.
Normalcy is a myth. what is perfectly normal for the Cheetah, Becomes absolute chaos for the Antelope.

So, I guess I'll be seeing you at New Smyrna in the near future?

                            You want examples Don:

Sunbelt series - started up by trying to take over what Bert Ashelman was successful with. Divided the cars, and killed BOTH series.

Goodyear Late Model..... same story as above

Florida Mini Stock Challenge.... pulled full fields for a few years, you get involved, it doesn't run the following year.

Southern Sportsman Series.... GREAT series until The Don buys in, and kills it also.

I'll give 'some' credit where its due.... apparently OSW was cranking for a few years in the early 80's. I was living in Tampa most of that time period and was going to East Bay, Fla State Fairgrounds, and Sunshine fairly regularly. I'm sure I went to a few at OSW, but to me it didn't stand out because my 'regular' tracks were also doing VERY well themselves.

But I still wouldn't go around patting myself on the back for 3 good years, and 30 bad ones.
