  • Press Release from Wayne Anderson regarding FUPS

Statement from Wayne Anderson Racing Regarding Future Races
with the Florida United Promoters’ Series

Wildwood, Florida (October 16, 2013) After careful consideration of recent events with the Florida United Promoters Series (FUPS), points leader Wayne Anderson and Randy Anderson, 5th place in points, have made the decision to no longer compete in the Series.

After the event at Citrus County Speedway on September 14, 2013 Wayne Anderson was approached in his pit area by a crew member of another competitor. After a verbal exchange, the crew member shoved Wayne and Wayne defended himself. The Citrus County Sheriff was called in and determined that Wayne was defending himself and that the crew member was wrong for entering the Anderson pit area. No disqualification or penalty was spoken of that night.

On Wednesday September 18, 2013 Wayne received a phone call from the Series Director stating that he would be penalized 25 points and fined $250.00. The Series was informed by multiple track promoters that the crew member was wrong for entering Wayne’s pit area and they suggested leaving up to the Sheriff. The series went forward with the penalty. This is one of many reasons Citrus County Speedway has removed itself from the Series.

Wayne was willing to pay the fine and still compete for the Florida United Promoters’ Series Championship even though he strongly disagreed with this decision.

Early in the 2013 season, Wayne and the Series Director spoke about the ability for Randy Anderson to compete for rookie of the Year with the Florida United Promoters Series. After reviewing the rules, it was determined that pursuant to Section P paragraph 2. of the Series rulebook Randy had not competed in more than three FUPS events in 2012, had not won a track championship in Late Models or Super Late Models and had not won a FUPS race and therefore was eligible to run for the Rookie of the Year program.

As of this date Randy was leading the Rookie points, has run 80% of the 2013 FUPS schedule and is a member. On October 14, 2013 Wayne Anderson discovered that the series may not be considering Randy a rookie. When he found this out, Wayne called the Series director and was told that Randy was not eligible because he was a Co-Rookie of the Year with the Florida All Star Tour. The director was informed that this information was incorrect and that Randy was not Rookie of the Year that year and reminded the Series Director of their conversation earlier in the season. By the FUPS rule book, it is Anderson’s contention that Randy is still eligible for this program; however, they were notified today that Randy will not be eligible. This is a slap in the face of Randy Anderson.

There have been many incidents, these are merely the most recent with the Florida United Promoters Series. We feel these actions are the result of one individual’s vendetta and after great thought and consideration, we have determined that it is in the best interest of Wayne Anderson Racing and the Anderson family NOT to support this type of egregious behavior. If these same circumstances were to happen to another racer, we would feel the same way for them.

We would like to thank our friends, fans , and sponsors for their continued support.

    FUPS SLM (Major Screw Up)

With that said (and I was there the night Wayne was struck in the chest by this other guy - and "Then" defended himself),,,, Wayne didn't go to someones pits with a problem...someone came to Waynes pit with a problem and started the situation.

FUPS should abide by the SO and get their S... together....

Was planning on Aub this weekend and looking forward to it... unless I see something from Andersons to change my mind..... Bye Bye FUPS LMs Racing.. OSF
Thank a Police Officer for what they do........... OSF:

It should be named the Florida United Promoter Series..cause they only have one! Good job Rex....you are a joke! It's not like any of the other promoters in this state are any better, good job guys, ruining a state that used to have legendary racing...I think I will just watch college football...its a lot cheaper and less dissapointing...

OSF I no why I like you so much, we think a like, scary huh.lol I wasn't there but if someone comes to you're pit after a race and makes first contact, I call that GAME ON NUFF SAID, IT HAPPENS EVERY WEEK AT A LOCAL SHORT TRACK. What really upsets me the most is how was it alright for the kid to compete most of the season for rookie of the year, and now he is not eligible, in my book that is not right to punish the kid, because somedody has a hard n for the father, FUPS good luck in the future, I will not support such actions as these. 10-4 Tony.... This isn't my first rodeo... been going to races since 1961... don't have "Favorite Driver" normally (cept when Travis Cope is racing - been associated with Copes for years and years - its a Sunshine Thing lol).. I enjoy tight - hard fought races... like Dickie Anderson/Jimmy Cope, Mike Cope in the Hooters and Truck Series)... I like to watch Anderson and Webster go at it...no favorites again... just hard racing.... If its a tight, hard fought race, I actually am a happy camper...
With that said... Anderson's got the super screw job by Rex/Rick.... I can't be a fan of that series with that happening...
I am proud to call you a friend (wouldn't admit it in public tho)...and glad to see you are no longer supporting FUPS...
To REX and RICK, why don't you admit who is "Really" coming to this weeks race... ha ha ha.... you need to update your post...
              OSF

Sorry to hear your decision Wayne but I understand. Was hoping to race you guys next year in the FUPS series but I'm sure we'll come across you guys racing somewhere anyways. Hopefully at our home track in Punta Gorda. We may change our decision in running that series next year too. Good Luck Team LRE SLM8

maybe FUPS should change their name to FU#%ED

well first off,Wayne I do not blame you. These guys who own these tracks have become so territorial of their tracks that I also am THROUGH of going to any local show.

I,also, was at that race at Citrus County as a fan sitting in the grandstands, totally un-aware of what's going on in the pits.Had no idea of the goings-on in the pit area.

I was hoping that CCS would change for the better, now that Gary LaPlant had taken over the track. It looks like that these same BS problems, are still going on.Gary, you went on this board and said that IF you got a race facility that things would change. With Wayne leaving the series, and you changing payouts on the SLM's.you sir,are showing your rearend to the drivers and fans, and I have lost my respect for you.

So lets have a rundown of our "fine" Owners of the paved racetracks in central and Northeast area racetracks...

No.1 Auburndale-Rex Guy/bad additude, nasty toward fans and drivers, has lost respect with his "hi-five" incident with Jeff Scofield. You noticed Anthony Campi has not been back.

No.2 Full Throttle-Kevin Williams/Moved from Punta Gorda Speedway (not his fault) to DeSoto speedway.Well, really no signage, except a banner at the immediate entrance to the track. If you didnt know any better,it's STILL DeSoto speedway. As I've said before,Williams has a horrible relation with the fans, treats drivers slightly better.Even Linda gave me 'tude on the phone...sheesh!

No.3 Showtime Speedway-Robert Yoho/I love the trackmand yes,I know drivers like him,but his debacle over Fourth of July did NOT endear him to race fans who came from out of town.I know he cant control the weather blah blah blah, but the is not exactly "warm and fuzzy" with the fans.I know about the improvments to the track, but maybe treat your fans a little better.

No.4 New Smyrna Speedway-Robert Hart/OK,first off,I'm sort of mixed on NSS.Terry Roberts and Kim Brown do a good job.Cordial and open to ideas. But that being said, when I went to the Gov Cup 2 years ago,my brother asked,at the ticket window, what was the rain date. They said it was good for the following week only.Well,my brother asked, what if tour from out of state? They threatened him by saying they would call the cops.(Hart Family? You tell me) Also, the tix prices would be a whole lot different. Plus,we were treated to a 45 minute introduction of the Hart Family (uh,OK) then a long intro of a local polititian (NOT OK).As a guy yelled during this local windbag was going on about racing, some guy from the stands yelled,"Let's GO!! My beer's gettin' warm!!

No.5 Citrus County Speedway-Gary LaPlant/Gee,Gary,when you were bidding for PGS,that you would make changes that would benifit the fans amd drivers.Well, you have Citrus County, and from the Anderson "thing",you have now lost two of the top drivers in the state of Florida. Then the pay-out FUBAR,I noticed Mike Bresnahan wasmt there this past saturday, after he said that this WASN'T what he and other drivers agreed to,after you changd the purses.Gary,I dont know what you and Bristol are doing, but it's NOT a good start.

No.6 Orlando Speed World-????/Does anyone know or care?Shame, because it's a good track,Went to the Truck Race before it was named after Joey Coulter,Mike Smith won that race.I remember when Larry the Cable giy,was at their dragstrip, but I think those people also owned the Speedway. Now this Moe guy,who probably works for the owners,is more worried about promoting Crash-O-Rama then promoting actual auto RACING.Moe,WON'T see you there!

No.7 Punta Gorda Speedway-Aw,the hell with it!/This guy has NOT done anything, except put up barricades and signs from the Charlotte County Airport Authority, not to TRESPASS.Yet,there are flyers posted at the entrance that there will be a go-kart race.No stands,no nothing.....

Guys,if you don't do better, you will kill off the goose.People will not come to your tracks anymore, and the way you treat fans don't improve.I've talked to a lot of you either in person or on the phone, but I get the feeling you don't give a damn. But it's all for the fans, right???

I like what i see out of NSS and the Harts are doing what it takes in my book. They have listened when appropriate, ignored when appropriate and most importantly have invested wisely in their Marquee events/facility and it is paying off. They have also partnered with some big names (NASCAR/Jegs/Coke/SPeed51) with much success. Weekly racing is a struggle right now but they have been there througout.

Gov Cup is climbing the ladder rapidly with out of town drivers and fans. The World Series is in need of some re-engineering I think, and i beleive they have started that process too.

so let me add another view from the last couple months

2 trips to FTS, not impressed at all....no effort to move the show along with bad weather coming...after a rain out for a 35 lap they reschedule just to again run other classes first and again rain out the race....maybe when weather is near get the special races in first!!!!!

SHOWTIME.....been there 4 times this year...always keep the show moving, next class ready to go after the one before ends...good prices on the food....good car counts and exciting racing!!!! I be going back again soon

                            Mike

Kevin Williams would do the same thing at Punta Gorda Speedway.Take forever, when bad weather was nearing.

Showtime,I like the track.Grandstand improvements in turn 4,are great.Drivers like him, because he's a driver himself.Yet,when my brother asked mamagement about a return on the 4th of July race, they acted like they didnt want to be bothered.
