Pro Trucks were on the card this year for the last three nights of the World Series, the last night being a 75 Lapper. Each night had a good purse with the 75 paying $1200 to win! Is it that much to ask to get the Sportsman on the card for one night???

Thanks for the vote of support Kyle! Kinda figured you would with the remarkable run you had there in the Sportsman 50. Unfinished business...
@ Cake-That's just the point, Pro-Trucks are not Sportsman. NSS has eliminated Pro-Trucks as a stand alone class due to small car counts. The Sportsman have shown strong car counts past and present. The last time Sportsman were part of the World Series was 2006, averaging 17 cars a night for their three night run. Like I said the Sportsman 50 at NSS (in which Kyle Maynard, 20car, came from the back twice in to finish 2nd) drew 19 cars despite there being a FUPS Sportsman event scheduled the same night down the road at A-Dale earlier this Summer.

Just build a race format, a purse structure, select a refundable safety deposit amount , and a final registration date.

            That way, nobody looses anything.

If enough registered cars, money is refunded the day of the race, & we have a race. If not, everybody gets their money back and the proposed deal is over.

            Simple ...simple ...simple.

Last time sportsmen cars race at speecweeks we had a great field of cars. A lot of the great late model drivers are now moving down into sportsmen class add those to the sportsmen cars that are already there and you would have a great speedweek race!

I know im going to take a lot of heat for this post, but Im going to post it. During the World series at nss with all the out of town fans from tracks all over the country, they dont want to see a bunch race cars with bent up sheet metal , spray can paint jobs, and duct tape numbers. I know most sportsman take pride in there cars, but just like when I ran Super Stock at Orando , there are too many cars that are scabbed together, I dont know how many times we got wrecked out by a car that looked like it was pulled out of a bone yard. Most top short tracks have in there rules that sheet metal must be in some sort of good shape with a paint job and real lettering . Dont mean to hurt anyones feelings , I know $$ is tight

You're not going to get any heat from me for that viewpoint. I actually agree with you 100%. I race on a shoestring budget, but I take great pride in the way my car looks. I refuse to show up to the race track with a car that looks like a P.O.S.. There's no excuse for it. Vinyl is not expensive and you can even order it dirt cheap on ebay now. Single stage enamel paint is cheap too (can also be had on ebay). However, these cars don't need to be show cars either. All your car needs is the 100/100 paint job. At 100 miles per hour from 100 feet away it needs to look perfect. Not that hard to do. And with Sportsman, where you are allowed to fab your own body, wrinkled sheet metal is unnecessary. A little elbow grease is all you need most of the time anyway. I'll share some of my cheapo look-good tips. Brake cleaner removes tire marks with a rag (keep it off the lexan though!). A little touch up paint (even on vinyl) can spiff up the b*tch marks. Rims look crappy from brake dust? Cut the sidewall out of an old tire and use it to mask your racing tire and paint your rims. Chrome bumper paint looks good for this. Truth is Joe, most Sportsman cars I've seen look damn good. The ones that look like crap don't seem to run good anyway. If an appearance rule is needed to get a race at the World Series, then I'd be fine with that. You are right, people don't want to see that when they are expecting a professional type of show. Let the junkers fill the field the rest of the year.

Thanks Joe. You kinda hit on one of my pet peeves. I've been waiting to rant on that one!

Sorry to anybody that had to see my old car, while yes it was fast, it was god awful ugly. Just wait till the new one arrives at a track near you. I will be at New Smyrna if they put on a show during speedweek, and I am positive many others will also.

SO......... I figure they gotta be making the schedule for the World Series soon so I'd like to put this thought back in the Hart's and Kim Brown's head. BTW the picture above was from the 2008 Governor's Cup Saturday. Notice the empty grandstands behind the cars? Sure wasn't like that this past Saturday!
