I watched a 50 lap race last night that had 16 (I think) yellow flags. It put a real damper on what would have been a really good race otherwise. The field of trucks was big enough, the fast ones were mixed in with the slower ones, it had all the elements of a great race, except it seemed to be stopped every 3 or 4 laps.
Some of the yellows were for real incidents, some were intentionally drawn by someone who spun, and I believe others were entirely unnecessary.
The race was often stopped for someone who spun to a stop on the Bandelero track far from the racing surface, or even in the grass. So here is my point: why not use a "push vehicle" to move these racers without stopping the race?
To me there is no reason why a car or truck with substantial bumpers couldn't go on the Bandelero track or in the infield to move stopped racers to a safer spot. Please note that I didn't say "drive on the tracK", although I've been in races where there was a clean up vehicle on the track during green flag racing. That is how the old enduros ran when there were 100+ cars. The clean up car actually helped a great deal.
So that is my suggestion: use a pusher to get at the spun out or stopped cars that it can reach without going on the track, push them to safety, and keep the race under green!
Why wouldn't this work?
