    Smock....now there's a word I like to say.

    Smock!......SMOCK!!.....

Sometimes I say: "Don't knock my smock or I'll clean your clock".

    Smock.

    It's a funny word.
Just practicing really. I've said " gates " for most of my life. I've even been heard to say " entrances " in times of high stress. But NASCAR and their marketing department showed me how far out of step I was. I just wasn't trendy, wasn't now. And who knows better than NASCAR what's in and what's not.
So I've accepted the fact that my use of the English language just no longer resonated with the demographic. And I've vowed to use the NASCAR Official Dictionary of Racing and Marketing in every aspect of my daily life. So far it has exceeded my expectations and afforded me a more effective living experience.

So you don't think if they ran a truck race at NSS or any other Florida track that the place wouldnt be standing room only????? Please.

You keep comparing huge special event races to what has happened to the weekly shows.......

The other fact you always forget to take into account is that Florida is a peninsula ......it is not surrounded by 4, 5 or 6 other states to draw from......both racers and fans.......

But sadly I dont think any blacktop track except Daytona would have drawn the crowd or interest the Eldora race did.New Smyrna could have standing room only but that would still leave it far short of what was at Eldora.Right now the interest is in dirt.Cable TV has helped build that interest by leaps and bounds.Short track promotors should take note.Nascar needs to prop up the hometracks in the same manner they did Tony Stewart with some one race televised events. Some bigger short track races MUST have some kind of TV coverage to help keep member tracks alive.

Anyone think that the eventual outcome of NASCAR's out of the blue sanctioning at NSS, will be the France family buying the track and using it to stage their own Speedweeks with their own series? They've tried to take over everything in that area including building a dirt track in the DIS parking lot.

            My 2 cents

It always boils down to what people want and if you can provide it.

Take that same race they just had at Eldora, present it ''as is'' at Knoxville, or Volusia, with the same hoopla around it and you will pack the place, peninsula or not, Florida or corn field area.

It doesn't freaking matter. People came from Australia , New Zealand , Europe , Canada to see that race, they are not driving there, they are flying there. So who cares where they land. And for those who drove, if this is what they want to see, they will go.

Millions of people drive and fly to Florida beaches every year, it's the same peninsula, but this is their favorite destination, that is where they want to be, so that is where they go. Superbowl has been played is many states, including Fl, always sold out.

Weather, bad economy, location, day of week, all those are leazy or clueless promoter(s) excuses. Wresltemania has sell out every year for decades B4 we know who will make the night's main event...Promotion and Expectation of Outstanding Entertainment. And it has been presented coast to coast in US and Canada.

Any track can be turn into a successfull one. It takes the will, the guts, and the right approach. People will pay for great night of weekly Entertainment, or an outstanding event, wherever it is. But it has to be what people are looking for, well promote, and presented the way it was sold.

            Et voilà!!!!
