I think there are a few Hoosiers like that. The Commanche's, The Street T.D.s (left side only), I vaguely remember the 880's and the similar yet ironically named "Sportsman" and somebody mentioned the Hoosier 800 and the Hoosier 970 too. All had the same characterisitics of being hard as nails, shorter on grip and faster the second and third nights and lasted til "the cords worn through". Although the American Racer (Old McCreary) treaded tires were lousy, the EC 85 and EC 84 slicks were good tires that lasted a couple of nights. Hell, I don't think we're asking for the world here to ask for a tire that will last 2 nights on the right (like the F53 does) and to keep all the tracks (division to division) on the same tire. And I think you are spot on in saying that a tire that would last longer would help keep our largest cost down and result in a lot more cars in the pits. I always say "you gotta build the show from the back gate" and bigger fields will ultimately lead to more exciting racing that will fill up the fan's grandstand. Either way I've been addicted to this sport as a racer for 20 years and will continue to race on whatever we run, but I could afford to race a hell of a lot more if I didn't need to buy tires every event.Originally posted by chassisdude View PostScott I really don't remember the number of those tires but they were hard but really stayed consistant until the thread was showing, really. I just looked at Hoosiers web site and you can order as soft or hard a tire that you want. I wish the promotors would see that a lot of cars would race a lot more if they knew they could be competitive with out having to buy tires every week. The sport we love is slowly slipping away because of the cost to race and tires are the biggest weekly cost to the racer. Man I hope they open their eyes before it is too late..........Last edited by scottgarrity07; 07-12-2013, 07:05 PM.
