you know what really Grinds my gears?? The drivers who have the money behind them to advance up in racing, yet stay down a class to be a champion. To that I ask Champion or Chump? I understand a weekly racing series is "for fun" but what fun is competing against no competition? that's like saying you won the Gold at the Special Olympics...

Back in the days, there was a rule at many race tracks all across North America that stated if you won the championship in a lower level class, you HAD TO move up.
But then, some guys instead of moving up, they either moved home or to other speedways. So one by one, promoters started to drop that rule.
So now, those entry level, or development divisions are just regular division where people can invest more in their cars Bcuz they know they will or can stay in that class for as long as they want. And sometimes some promoters will give them some extended races, with bigger purses.....following my lead????
Why invest in a higher class car when I can do 100 lappers with better purses with my mini stock?????
First thing you know, Super Late Model style rig show up for Mini Stock class. Then the class goes to S$*&?T. Does that sounds familiar.André Fortin

If someone does not have the "can't afford it" excuse and has won more then one championship in the devision why not move up? Not saying to not go back down from time to time. And let's be honest how many people at the track would turn down a ride in an upperclass car? That's like going to the Ferrari dealership saying I like the red one they say here's the keys and you say nah ill take a taxi. -Si Robertson.

As long as they stay within the rules what's wrong with it? It 's when they buy equipment outside the rules for the advantage over the next guy that's wrong. Then again that is the tracks fault for not enforcing the rules. Don't blame the racer for the out spending going on. Blame the tracks letting it go on!Originally posted by Too_Funk_To_Drunk View Postyou know what really Grinds my gears?? Unless you're privy to their finances you never know who can really afford it and who can't. There are people who look rich at the racetrack but are running themselves on the razor edge of broke to do it.Originally posted by Too_Funk_To_Drunk View PostIf someone does not have the "can't afford it" excuse and has won more then one championship in the devision why not move up?

It can be a problem that kills classes and hurts the show. Need an example? A well-known and successful driver won every SLM race one year at Palm Beach, and the track closed afterwards.
I've seen the tracks step in on a few occasions to fix this. They "requested" that a dominating driver move up. The results were good too. The driver stayed involved in the new classes (because they love the sport) and flourished at their new level.
I wouldn't write a rule to boot drivers out, but I hope the track will step in (on rare occasions) for the good of the show.

Ill speak for Dick Anderson..(hope he doesent mind)ick Trickle. He never will post anything. He doesent even read anything here or anywaer for that fact.
He is a face to face kind of a guy.
Im sure he would tell you that he did fish in any pond that he could get the right bait for.
He has won more than 1000 races in a few 100 different tracks.
Dick Trickle (RIP) also did the same thoig for years. Both of them told me that no one ever offered them a ride that could win and they didnt want to just ride.
Teickle told me latter that the cup ride was just about the money.
Andreson was paid buy a promoter to lose the races. He crashed the promoters car and went home.
Dont look for reasons to get them to stay home look for ways to get them to come and try to win. Wining isent the reason they are there. They need to think they have a chance to win.
Some peoplemove down to a mimi and still cant win so its the oyher guys falt..He has to much MONEY.....or....he just better than you..
..
For all u Anderson haters
THINK HOW BORING IT WOULD WITH OUT YOU

Just a few years ago, Dickie Anderson was on a racing radio show, and he said he regretted winning every race that year at Palm Beach. At the time, he was thinking only as a competitor who could win, and who did win. Over time, and with his experience gained as a promoter, he realized that one extremely dominant car wasn't good for the overall show, or for any class.
