Dave..... Ed Pimm did drive a Sunoco 98 for Mike Curb.... however that sponsorship came on board after they tried another team first, but decided to go with Curb instead. Brad Noffsinger was also a pilot of that ride.

Answer to #2 from Jacques..... Islip Speedway, in Islip NY. It a minuscule 1/5 of a mile. Just a hint here.... the 'cemetery' track from my last question was run in close proximity to when they ran Islip.

For question #4.... Was it Sterling Marlin in the No. 94 Oldsmobile?

Earlier than that. I think this driver only ran 3-4 races, mostly out of pocket. Sunoco didn't throw any big money or contracts to this guy. For Sunoco, it was strictly to test the waters... the driver hoped it would turn into something bigger.

This is a tough question and a very obscure name in the Nascar world.

Fonda Speedway in NY had a cemetery in the infield. The back straight has a bow in it to go around the area. Fonda and Islip were both part of what was called the Northern Tour part of the Nascar schedule.

1 - The record for the shortest distance ever run in a rain shortened "official" Winston Cup race was only twenty-seven miles. At which track was this race held at?

2 - What is the shortest track ever to host a Winston Cup race.... AND ....just how small was this racetrack?

For question #2, Frasson118 got it exactly right. Islip Speedway was only 1/5 mile.

The answer to question #1 was Bowman Gray Stadium. The race was on April 23, 1962. The race was a scheduled 200 lap event on the 1/4 mile track (only a 50 mile event in the first place). The race was called after 108 laps for rain (only 27 miles long).

1) Mark Donohue won his one and only NASCAR Cup race at Riverside on January 21, 1973 driving Roger Penske's AMC Matador... This was the only win for the "original" Matador body style...

2) Lee Petty won in a 1959 Oldsmobile... 59 cars started representing nine different makes of cars... The starting field had 27 Chevrolets, 20 Fords (7 were the Thunderbird model), 4 Pontiacs, 2 Mercurys, 2 Oldsmobiles (Lee and Richard Petty), and one each DeSoto, Edsel and Studebaker...

Between yourself and Frasson188 you got them all correct. It was Nashville not Riverside that stopped running Cup events after 1984. Nashville was such a great little track too. I guess it was just too small of a venue for NASCAR's liking. I wish they had alot more smaller tracks and not these boring mile-and-a-half cookie-cutter tracks that they run now.

Here's a good one... It's common knowledge that Richard Petty ran a Ford during the 1969 NASCAR Cup season... However his dad, Lee Petty, in 427 Cup starts, only ran a Ford one time... Name the year, race, and who was the car owner? (It was not Petty Enterprises)
