    The whole story?

I don't write on here much but there are still 2 sides of the story, even when the pictures and film makes it look condemning. I have never raced at PGS though I have raced at Desoto, it is a shame that the track was left in this type of mess. However wasn't there a hurricane or big storm that wiped out the track and didn't Sunshine speedway sell all of its equipment to PGS owner/Operator, and wasn't that equipment installed to get PGS back up and running? If Kevin has the receipts showing he purchased and installed the equipment then he still owns it. Sunshine Dragstrip was done the same way when the old owner left and the new owner had to rebuild it the way he wanted it. That will be what happens at PGS. When the new operator of the track takes over give them the help they will need to rebuild the track. Just my opinion.

It6 was a different promoter but as i said the airport leased the land to the promoters in the past..there was no track of any kind there the promoters threw the years built it.The first thack was a mud track for trucks ..

recently moved down here & my wife & I attended Punta Gorda 4 different times from 2004-2012. I always admired & thought it was great that EVERY time we went there, the stands were full, the pits were pretty full & they had some great racing. I personally do not know any of the parties but, after what I seen on the news, I will NEVER support or race at any track this gentleman leases, owns, works at or runs. There is no excuse for leaving the place in such a mess. I am sure he made his money back x10 to cover the things he claimed was his or even was his. the bleachers, fencing, flag stand, wiring ALL should have been left alone. taking your signs, scoring system, vehicles is one thing but this type of destruction was plain childish in my eyes. If the guy hopes to have any respect from racers, fans, etc from that area, I personally think he needs to take the crew who helped make this mess & return to the track & put it back to how it was other than the personal belongings as I mentioned before. put the fencing back up, put the electric back together, put the stands back up, fix the pole damage & any other unecessary things that were done!

          I guess this means

That the PGS company picnic won't be held at the airport this summer.

Who's to say that the airport didn't send some people other there to scatter things around a day or two before they shot this clip? I hadn't been to the track since Kevin took over (personal financial reason, none other) nor do I know him but, if the airport's "playing the victim card", prove they didn't blow it up even bigger

Watched the video. It was a tightly screened segment shot that was meant to focus on SMALL sections of the property in order to convey a certain perspective.

Typical reporting for sensationalism instead of reporting ALL the facts.

Also no one picked up on the FACT that there is a $10000 security deposit to cover damage. As reported.

Another point. Having done business with various government entities over the years repairing, leasing, and selling them equipment. If there was ANY equipment that belonged to them it would have been labeled and an inventory would be readily available. We always knew what belong to us and what belonged to them. No questions.

Why everyone believes all the crap on TV, and some postering politician is beyond me!

                The part I like

All promoter and landlord issues aside . I like the moniker " Posturing Politician " . She says " #1 I see one of the finest entertainment facilities in the entire county of Charlotte".
Well , wouldn't have been nice to see someone like her on T.V. spouting the fine qualities and entertainment value the track possessed when they were trying to fill the seats for races ?

                Politicians = fairweather friends .

The shots were meant to focus on specific damage...and they did. It was trashed.

Everyone picked up on the $10,000 deposit. When you're repairing damage like that 10 grand isn't going to get you very far.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Airport Authority has a detailed inventory. In fact, i'm betting they do, and quickly realized there was a lot missing.

Everyone believes the tv because there hasn't been any evidence that the tv is lying or incorrect about anything they said or filmed.

I don't think we're gonna know from a 1 minute sound bite whether a politician is posturing or not. She sounded pretty proud of her community and of the race tracks' place in it.

The idea that the airport paid a group to go over there and tear up the property makes perfect sense.

One thing that no one has touched on at all is WHAT DID THE LEASE or CONTACT have in it...Some have stipulations that ANY AND ALL improvements become the property of the track. Not taking the side of ANYONE here at all cause I have been on both sides....I have been mad as hell like I'm sure Kevin was and you just don't give a rats ass, you just want to get what you think is yours and get the hell out to start over....Then if it is NOT ON PAPER or BLACK and WHITE...that is a whole nother story....even so as EVERYONE HAS SAID there are 2 side to every story and I bet this one winds up in court and YOU ALL WILL HEAR THE TRUTH...CAUSE YOU NEED TO HERE THE TRUTH....YOU WANT TO HEAR THE TRUTH....CAN YOU HANDLE THE TRUTH???

Oh yea,if a POLITICIAN said it on TV,then heck,it MUST BE TRUE!

                          OK i will play along...

Trashed?? When was the last time you cleaned out a rental property. All I saw on the clip was fencing that was cut. NO holes in the walls, NO graffiti on everything, NO doors ripped off the hinges, NO trash, feces and debris everywhere. NO water pipes broke off at the slab. All things I have dealt with when dealing with renters.

Again I ask what damage? Capping off some electric lines and repairing some fencing, $10000 will easily cover it.

I will bet you $100 cash money (you pick who holds it) that there is no detailed inventory list.

Never said the TV people were lying, but the way the clip was framed was totally biased to the point of view they were trying to convey. Why did the TV people not report on the content of the lease and a detailed list (because there is no list) of whats missing? Important FACTS!!! Not the drama and controversy they portrayed.

Why go on TV?? To posture for political position. If you have all the FACTS on your side, you let the proper people do there job and recover the lost items, money or whatever else you think. What community good did this TV bit do? This is one screwed up mess that the powers that be should keep quiet about until someone presents some FACTS.

                          Your turn...

It is hard to tell exactly

Because of the limited views of the property on the TV news segment, but it does appear that some things were removed from the property maliciosly.NOTE, key word being APPEAR.If (and I think it's more like when not if)this deal ends up in a courtroom, the video segment was filmed in a manner that would be very advantagous to the airport authority when being presented in front of a judge who has probably never seen the place. The real question is,how much more footage is there (if any ) of the restrooms, tech area, concession stands, scoring tower/press box INTERIOR etc.,that can possibly be used in a court case against Williams.I saw wiring for the tracks pa system cut in two(but so what they're pa system SUCKED)and handrails behind where the catch fencing once was cut in two at several junctures.ANYBODY,clear down to a 5 year old with a swiss army knife could cut through a few wires, and 5 minutes with a sawsall can cut a lot of pipe.An inventory list can be altered, whether or not there even is one, especially if the landlord has the only copy,OR (and believe me I know too well)if you have a judge who is just unwilling to go by the tenants copy.Considering the fact that negotiations went so badly over a new lease wouldn't any one out there WANT to be present when the landlord came to do his inspection in the hopes you would get the security deposit returned?Unless you felt you were in the wrong on the condition you left the place in and just wanted to get out of dodge.Hell,I'd be there to get 50 bucks back, let alone 10,000.That is unless my name was Rockefeller or Trump and 10 grand was chump change or I thought I'd beat it the hell out of there with more than 10 grand of stuff that I had no right to take.Whichever side you take,it looks like the speedway won't be operating anytime the rest of this year and maybe never again.Too bad that blonde wasn't up there on her soapbox on TV rallying for the county to fix the drainage issues with "this fine facility"and maybe the whole chain of events would have never started.
