Ok lets try to do something good for the tracks that want help.
Just add one idea that u think will change what is happining.

    1. Here is my ticket promo
Make a deal with the drivers that if they show up every race u will let them in free.
if they miss 1 week they pay.
restart the promo every 9 weeks
if they show for 4 weeks in a row they get 5 tickets for there fans
If they make every race for the year they get doubble point fund at the end of the year.
Ticket promo for grandstands First week free for all save ur ticket and pay $1 next week and so forth. On week 10 its free agin.
Do the math and its a good deal for everyone
If the first race is good they will come back

Ok lets see if anyone will try without bringing the bathroom into the promo

Hey, there are some good ideas there! My comments are in red.

Make a deal with the drivers that if they show up every race u will let them in free. Good idea for most racers, but don't let it get abused by uncompetitive "start and parkers" who just want to get in for free.
if they miss 1 week they pay.
restart the promo every 9 weeks Nice.
if they show for 4 weeks in a row they get 5 tickets for their fans
If they make every race for the year they get double point fund at the end of the year. That is fine.....as long as the promoter doesn't take off with the point fund.
Ticket promo for grandstands First week free for all save your ticket and pay $1 next week and so forth. On week 10 its free again. I like the free ticket on opening night, but I don't understand the $1 a week. Are you saying it increases by $1 up until $9 (if you save your ticket every week) and then restarts?

lets see if anyone will try without bringing the bathroom into the promo Impossible. You can't discuss event organization without being sure that all elements of the experience are taken care of.

U restart when u need to
start and parks are fine they will start racing if they come every week. At least u got them there.
Each class will have a night to run a zagley race.
2 fig8 races per year that pay $2000 to win
2 sprint races that pay $3000to win each year.
Never more than 2 of anything special per year..create a ergency to come to the races.

I like Dons ticket promo idea, but with a twist... say you pay $10 the first week & the track gives you a 'hard card' ( for lack of a better word). They punch a hole in your card, and next time you come, it's $9 to get in. The following race is $8, until you work your way down to a 'freebie' night.

At first it's not much savings, but as the weeks go by, it gets cheaper & cheaper to get in. I wouldn't even care if some folks let their friends 'borrow' a card for the week, at least SOMEONE would be riding the pine, and most likely buying a coke, a hot dog, or a beer. Empty seats buy no Hot Dogs.

Another bonus, is that if you get them hooked on coming, a percentage will get interested in COMPETING. It happens all the time.... a couple guys from work go to the track, have a few beers, and start thinking "Hell, we can do THAT". Voila... a new racecar being built.

Getting people into the stands will result in more cars in the pits.

Three Sunday-afternoon shows: Fourth of July weekend, Labor Day, and an end-of-the-year special.

Three mid-week shows: Memorial Day (Monday night); one in August; and one in October.

Bring in something that nobody's seen in Florida in quite a few years: Supermodifieds. Four-week series during the winter at four different tracks.

"Run-whatcha-brung" show. Four tires/wheels, fenders, minimum weight, and maximum cubic inches. Four rules.

Triple 100-lappers - on the same night. Heat races, invert the field for each segment. 15 minutes between segments.

Get rid of time trials altogether, except for your specials. Even then, start your fast cars in the back. Speaking of which...

Handicap your weekly shows on a four-week point basis. Fast guys in the back of the heats and features. Miss a week, automatically to the back, behind the fast guys.

Weekly show? Four or five classes *maximum*. Alternate a class (again..years ago...the Super Late Models were the top class, and ran every week). Sprint cars alternated with Super Sixes. You don't need "Super" Late Models, Limited Late Models, Crate Late Models, Late Model Sportsman...

Be a *genius*: get an oval-track class started with "newer" four- and six-cylinder "ricers". Not a "strictly-stock" type class, but, a full-blown, tube-chassis, big-horsepower type class. Let 'em run big spoilers (NO wings...LOL...), fender flares, side skirts, etc.

Borrowing on ideas from the other thread: top four in heat races (or time trials, depending on your track) run a trophy dash. Four laps, slowest starts on the pole, fastest in the back. 4 laps, fifty bucks, and a trophy.

And Don...I gotta go with Rex on this one...what the hell is a "zagley" race? LOL

I like all of it but u broke the bank..I tryed to count how much it would cost the first year. After the first mill i stoped counting and started typing..
Mid week show on the 4th when it is wed has worked in florida.Inverness was the best
Sunday when monday is a holiday has also been good a few times
3 100 lapers on the same night NOT. Jimmy u were there when we tryed ot do that in 3 days (cypress 300) 1980 fri sat sun, it was a desaster. the track lost so much money they never recovered. It cost me $5,000 to run my car for those 3 days.We took in $1300
We ran super mods 3 shows in a row one year $65.000 purse.Had a sponsor Hooters payed the bill
If u could get them to come for 1 show it would be great but if u run 3 shows at 3 tracks the same weekend the fans go to one race .
I have alwase hade the 4 week avg and it the best way to make a show.
Most tracks dot want to do it because it a lot of work and they dont understand it. neither do most the racers.
.A ZAGLEY race is zagley what the fans want to see.LOL got ya!!

I kind of like the descending admission charges except for three things.First how do you advertise the admission price on a web site or print ad that doesn't completely confuse a lot of the people who can't even add 2plus 2?Secondly, how do you not upset the fan who stands and watches the guy ahead of him pay $3 to get in and then the lady at the ticket window tell him $15 when it's his turn to pay.It seems like that would create mass confusion, chaos and potentially a lot of ill will at the ticket window.Third how does this not bankrupt the track owner who has the misfortune of having a bigger percentage of one dollar admissions show up on any given night than he does ten or fifteen dollar ticket buyers. It seems like that is way too much like rolling the dice and hoping your number turns up.How about 2 or 3 fan appreciation nights (or even a couple more since there is a long race season down here) with discounted or half price admissions, half price SOFT drinks, hot dogs and a few half price souveneirs. And then on the other side of the pit gate Racer appreciation nights with the same kind of deal,IN THE PITSIDE ONLY.easy to post on a website and hopefully easy enough to understand and not as prone(hopefully) to breaking the bank.

The punch card system, i.e.: after X of these, you get one Y for free have been and are used on a daily basis on many thing, coffee shop comes to mind.

But those set up do not really create NEW traffic to your particular product, it just takes it from your competitor and bring it to your place of business, which is far from the problem the short track stock car world today faces.

The basic problem is people are not intersested in the product, the way it is presented to them today. Even if it is free, they will not come and watch.

The proof is that if you hold something really special as an event, and increase the gate price at 15//20//up to 50 that I have seen here for the WoO, they still pack the place solid. So, up the a a point, the gate price is not the problem, the product is.

The whole concept of short track racing has to be redesign and rethink. It needs to be entertaining & attracting to the new standards of society, Bcuz times have chaged and people demands are more & differents than they use to.

Today, when you advertized your race night, there are one hundred other things to do around your area that advertized too and many are just walk in, free of charges, family orriented festival of all kinds, where there are all kinds of entertaining things to do or watch for free.

Racing can still be made to work, but it has to be presented differently to the public. The envelope has to be more colorfull. The main meal has to be surrounded by more attracting accompaniments.

                        That's my 2 cents.

There is a mailing program that will print labels out of the phone book.
Srart with the As in the tracks zip code and send them a flyer promoting the track and a free ticket..
Most of the tme u wont get to Fs..
The people will trade buy and sell the tickets. Even print more of them...( ok good deal).
If the racers dont help buy trying to put on a show it wont work.
So i alwase asked ...what is the hook we are selling??

                              don bbzzzzznat..
