Don.... thats like saying to the Street Stock and Mini Stock drivers that they can't get paid because the Super Late guys took all the money. The track collects the money, and it gets HANDED out from there, not TAKEN by anyone else. The Outlaw drivers did NOT get paid that first night, but eventually got their money from night 1, several months later. Everyone else got screwed for every other race & division that ran those 2 nights.

You are feeling sorry for the wrong guy. He may have been nice, but he stiffed everyone, and put the blame on the same guys he screwed.
Jerry the WOO took all the ticket money from the Dome first. I dont rember the amount but i do know that the promoter had over $2000,-000 in the show and lost it all. The ad bugit was $50,000 alone and no one came. the croud was poor .
It was one of the coolest races i have ever seen. An yep the alci fumes were unbearable.
Jery every promoter isint the bad guy.
Most of them go broke trying to help the sport that hates them in the end.
The fans but a ticket and the drivers build cars but the promoter is the guy that has the most to lose.
Pual was a great guy and when it was over we never heard from agin. Gerat sponsor and face fan that tryed to do a gerat thing and it didnt work out.
L do feak sorry for hem.

Promoters go broke trying to make $ off other people...nothing else.
      I don't say it's wrong, it's capitalism...but it's true.

Promoters also have the most to gain, as well as the most to lose. If they lost every time, they wouldn't do it. If they gained every time, everyone would do it.

It's a gamble every time they open the gates. But if not enough money came through the gates, that isn't the fault of the racers that did show up, and they deserve to be paid.... even if it comes out of the promoters personal pockets.

Gamblers, even very good ones, will still lose almost as often as they win. If you can't afford to lose, you can't afford to play....

Paul Morgan couldn't pay the purse, the appearance money, and who knows what all else. I'm pretty sure the ones that DID get paid were the Suncoast Dome management. I doubt they would allow someone to pay their rental bill later. They get that up front.

PS - Groundpounder.... If I recall the story correctly, the drivers WERE given checks after night 1, so they all came back for night 2. It wasn't until later they found out all they were handed was worthless paper.
