  • Losing Races Already!!!

From what I'm hearing, both tracks (NSS/OSW) aren't gonna benefit from this as far as the racers go! It's gonna be the same ole boring Friday/saturday night shows!!! Considering they aren't allowed to bring in the FUPS Latemodels, Modifieds, Trucks or Sportsman series!!! As a matter of fact last I saw they aren't allowed to run any non nascar sanctioned series at either track!!! Now how does that support the local short tracks, racers, and fans?? Help cause i'm not understanding it!! Sounds like the blind leading the blind!!!

First, i've been to 2 FUPS races ( what a dopey name for a race series ) over here and they were just below average shows. So i don't think NSS and Orlando would be missing all that much. I haven't heard anyone in authority say that they can't or won't have that series back, so let's wait and see.
And if they aren't allowed to run another series at those tracks, i'll bet NASCAR can help them come up with a good replacement.
And lastly, what's to keep the racers who currently run the FUPS Series ( what a dopey name for a race series ) from racing at NSS and Orlando under whatever series they start up.

To be clear on this !

They can run them, but will be Nascar sanctioned or insured. The track must buy own event insurance or series carry own insurance. NSS has said they are out, but as of today Orlando had not made any of that official. The official word has to come from Ozzie not NSS Speedway.

Now they may not happen, but there is other things being worked on as we speak, and let that all be finalized and out before folks guess at it all.

Just be cautious until all is made official, please.

So how does this NASCAR sanctioning affect the Governor's Cup? I got to thinking about this today. Isn't this year the 50th annual?

The P A S S series runs at Nascar tracks all over the country. Another series CAN run the tracks if they choose to do so.

They said at the meeting, that you could buy a 1 time 10 day licence for 10 dollars for every class except Super Latemodels which would cost 25 dollars.
I asked the question about traveling series and what Rick said is true, except Ozzy told me straight away, the March 9th Fups races will not happen, so don't get my car ready for it.

Also, as far as rules the closest track to Hickory speedway up here ran the same rules so local cars could run both tracks.

Fri/Sat shows and the Fri track did pretty well until.............uh, the public (residents) near the track made impossible to run because of noise.

                    Good news!!

Last I heard, and from a pretty good source, Walmart is not looking to buy property in the New Smyrna area, not sure about Bithlo.

I retract my statement about not running FUPS races, from a credible source, there may be a way and it may be in the works. LETS HOPE SO.

I would venture to say that if Walmart wanted the property in east orange, they could have purchased it. Then NSS would not have any competition within a few hundred miles. Things are going to get interesting when Ozzy learns Saturday night racing works and the alignment of rules with other tracks is beneficial. The OSW GOLDMINE will be uncovered.

The governors cup has been a nascar event in the pastand i think u were there jimmy.
The tripple crown was a nascar event also for a few years.. Check it out..
Ifthe track wants to run a outside event (ie crash a rama at holland speedway ) they can do it.
Most of the time the track will not run the event with any nascar events that weekend..

I know of many NASCAR tracks that ran/run non-NASCAR events at their facilities. The trick is to NOT to run them on the NASCAR designated day/night. So in theory if Orlando runs under the NASCAR banner on Friday nights then there is nothing to say they can't run FUPS events on Saturday nights. So c'mon Ozzy, buy that insurance for the Saturday nights so we can all get to ride the FUPS "Crazy Train"!
