Different - and pretty cool One of my first cars - actually, now that I think about it, my *second* car - was a Pinto wagon.

Those are some great pics. And not a 79 Monte Carlo to be seen.
Either completely stock appearing bodies or letting the racers use their imagination, the tracks can do a lot better than the bland, all look exactly the same, bodies they mandate now.

I remember a race series that had some of the most diverse body styles ever, the late 1950s, 1960s and 1970s NASCAR Modifieds at Daytona. Hornets, Studes, Camaros, they had it all.

The vintage midget on the front of the trailer has some one-of-a-kind body work. The owner/driver of these two antiques is Carl Meier, who also drove my dad's cars during the Eisenhower administration!

You want colorful? Behold Ron McCreary's Buick Electra (with Impala body work on the front). Bubble gum pink, #"4Q" and even the Rolling Stones lip logo on the hood!

What a thing of beauty. The front car was base on th 57 roadster that won Indy. The midgets ran a Florida series that year and a couple of them were enter.ed. Some of the drivers were Keller Bettenhausen Ruby Linden Bonadies Templeman Branson Wente Liguori and others. I still have 20 plus autographs as well as the memory of the sound of an Offy and the smell of castor oil.

So lets change "one-of-a-kind" to "really cool".
Here is a picture of the front.

This was one of the coolest cars to ever race in Florida... Kip Pierce was the driver and I'm pretty sure Bud Josey was the builder/owner... Not only did the "Toonerville Trolley" look different, it had Casper the Friendly Ghost painted on the back and a Casper doll on the roof along with a working "trolley bell" This car won tons of races...

Another neat set of cars were the 2-5 and 5-2 Early Model six-cylinder cars that ran at Golden Gate... Both had a working light bulb on the roof that the driver would turn on at the start of each race and turn off when it was over. Fred Weiss is driving the 2-5 here in a bit of trouble with George Hill's #9 and Vernon Hart....

few years ago i had TEN on the side of my car, track didnt seem to care for it. Also put brake lights on my SLM which some drivers and tech didnt seem to like either. Now i have a " Ugly" SLM which I catch crap for by a few people and one a-hole who i will not name, so I have pretty much decided to go road racing where the people actually like me AND my cars.

Im curently building another car and im making a gremlin body for it. I originally wanted to do a pacer but i was told that i wouldnt be allowed to keep a pacer at the house.

lets all take a long ride on a short bus.

I quit fishing because no one was standing at the docks handing out money when i got back, why did you quit racing?

Notice the wide slicks, sure looks a lot better than those skinny treaded tires they have to run now.

This is really cool!! I would think a wagon would make a lot of down force.

Thought you might want to see the restoration going on right here in Tampa.
I've owned The Fred Pete Midget Roadster since May of last year, I'll be
running it with DAARA in our local shows. The car was built in 1959 in Akron, Ohio by my father Fred Pete. I grew up watching this car being driven by my Uncle Mike Nemer from Clyde, Ohio. The body was hammered out by fellow racer Buddy Martin a 6 time driving champion of Tri-State Racing Assc.
I should be ready in a couple of months, hope you enjoy.

                                Unique cars

Yeah I remember some of the unique cars or car numbers through the years.
Anybody remember the Pink Panther car..... my personal favorite when I was alot younger. I remember back I think in the late 70's Roy Skinner used to race at Citrus sponsored by King "B" Construction and always had a bulldozer on the roof of his car...... Or one of the Abney boys with the lightbulb on top of his car..... or how about the car number 9/16. At Ocala way back when there was the "GO" machine. These are the kind of cars that seem to stick in your mind.
