Ron was attending Le Tourneau so i was born in Longview. left before i was a year old, spent a good portion of that year at the MD Anderson Cancer Center getting all the good parts of my brain sucked out. they're still tracking me. haven't managed to get away from em yet.


i did work for a year in Austin though, back in 94.

TX has, by far, the most intelligently designed interstates, frontage and access roads i've ever seen anywhere. they do have a lot of ground they can afford to waste.

I like austin. My girlfriend is from Texas. She grew up in Buda and her parents now live in Marble Falls.

Her dad had a trucking company that hauled Just about every beam for all the bridges bridge built in texas in the late 80s and early ninetys.

Wasn't it a few years ago that another favorite Wayne Anderson took out David Rogers under caution? If I remember right that was a "Days of Thunder" kinda hit with David at caution speed and Wayne going a whole lot faster.

Here is my thought... Fascar suspended a driver. Within 6 days that driver was racing again. Not a word from Fascar that I have seen as to what changed. It doesn't matter what class, sex, experience, or wealth the driver is. FASCAR is the boss and they made a rule and then changed their minds. It's not right but it is their game to run as they want to. Say what you want but we will all be back there, paying to get in so let's move on.

At least we have a track to fulfil our racing needs.

Oh and by the way, my vote this November is for Frasson for Prez...

The driver on the recieving end of this "Days of Thunder" move damn near got hit in the back of the head by an out of control truck driver.

You are just kind of person FASCAR wants because "you just don't get it", and are "ready to forget it".

Oops they raised the back gate, fuel and tire prices. "At least we have a track to fulfil our racing needs"

Was your post a "paid political ad" or just your "just don't get it" opinion.

it's not really about Jessica. or at least it wasn't until "alpslh" showed up.

we don't know how long the suspension is technically supposed to be. is it for 2 racing weekends at any FASCAR track? is she suspended for the next two truck series dates? there's only 11 truck races this year, that could be awhile. is she suspended for the next two Tour races of any type? is she suspended for one month? who knows.

that was one of the biggest complaints Ron and I had last year. we had no idea how long his "suspension" was supposed to be for and we couldn't find out. it's one thing to be one of the nattering nabobs of negativity and not know what's going on, it's another thing altogether to be the driver being sanctioned and not be able to get an answer. i hope the Murphy's have at least been given that courtesy.

I have spoken with 3 lawyers this week regarding this topic. One was a Prosecuting attorney for a neighboring county to me, one was a public defender in Georgia, and the other was a trial lawyer I am close personal friends with. All 3 said the same thing.

The driver that was hit under caution should do the following.


1, Criminal charges can and should be brought against the Girl.

2. Once the criminal stuff is over with head on down to civil court. Name the girl in the suit, the track, the promoter, the announcer, the gate ticket person, even the bimbo at the nacho cart. Set an example.

The common denominator here is that the track has not followed the rules it set forth. This deems the waiver signed at the gate null and void. Not worth the paper it is written on. It is hard enough as it is to have waivers stand up in court, but dont follow your own posted rules and watch them fall faster than the japanese at hiroshima.

The track and sanctioning body needs to be called to the carpet on this one.

"At least we have a track to fulfil our racing needs"True again, my not going is not going to lower prices again, it will only hasten the time when Orlando Speedworld becomes Orlando Condos East. I choose to support something which I would miss greatly if it were gone (example Sunshine Speedway)

Do you even know the incident between Anderson and Rogers I was speaking of? Anderson hit him in the left rear, in turn 4, under caution at a high rate of speed. Anderson also ended up in handcuffs at some point after that which was my point. The precendent has been set so Ms. Murphy had better curb the temper. Judging by your comments you have either not been around long or checked your memory at the door a long time ago.

Just because I kept going to Speedworld even though it took years to correct the pit gate after John Potts was killed does not mean I forgot or got over it. I choose to fight the battles that my money can influence. My not going to the races is not going to lower the fuel, tire and parts cost while inflating the winners purse that has not risen in 15 years for a weekly show. My not going might influence if they raise the gate prices again. See what I mean, you have to pick your battles. I have been going there since the mid 80's and will keep going as long as they are running. It doesn't mean I agree with them all the time.

My point was and is now that I want to support the sport I love. They make mistakes but then so do I. Do I think she should be sat down for a few weeks yes. Do I think she should be arrested, no unless she does it again. Do I think we should not go because of this, no. I don't want the tracks to go away and frankly looking at the stands lately at NSS, Orl, and Lakeland I am afriad we will lose them sooner than later with the economy the way it is.

i mean, yah, you verified what i've been saying about track liability. but i already knew that, and so should anyone else who's got two functioning brain cells. this is what i don't want to happen.

we turn every on-track incident into a federal case and we'll kill auto racing faster than you can say "kill all the lawyers". and that's what will happen once you start that ball rolling.
