What this refers to is the Limited Late Model Spec motor that was used in the Limited Late Model division, and a few companies (Progressive, Jimmy Cope, ....), built them using the same parts, and then they sealed them like the crates are sealed. From what I understand, for 2012, you could run it "as is", but had to weight 2900 with 56% left and a chip. Also, from what I understand, "as is", is not an option next year. You can run the Spec motor, but you have to use a 1.15" restrictor plate. I ran my LLM Spec motor car with the Crates at Speedweeks last year with the restrictor plate for one night. BIG HORSEPOWER DROP WITH THE RESTRICTOR PLATE. So big, the next night I took it off and ran with the Supers the rest of the week. As far as I am concerned, they can do whatever they want, I am running with the Supers again.

the limited and super spec motor was the creation of don nerone and progressive to make a reliable less exspensive motor for the limited and super class. the majority of the limited cars (in central fl at least) have the spec motor probably 80-90 percent of the supers(in florida) have the super version of the spec motor. All these motors have the same parts progrssive, dave crume, jimmy cope are the only 3 engine builders allowed to build them. i know everybody thinks you can get different power levels of the spec motor i say to this bs put your money were your mouth is pick a motor you want and buy it out of the car if it is a motor built by one of these three builders it can be bought out of the car for the price of a new one. don't say you can't buy one of russells cause BJ bought it that night right out of the car two speedweeks ago. nss and pensacola rules are the same for supers and pros

False...below is out of the rule book from NSS, my post above is from five flags. Obviously not the same rules, there is no line four in the above five flag rules, crate motors ONLY, according to the rule book anyways.

ENGINES: ***** All engines found illegal WILL be confiscated by Officials *****
        1. GM # 88958604 with the following updates, 1.6 rocker rocker arms, Valve Spring Part # 12586484, Comp Cam valve springs #941-16, Champ oil pan # CP106LTRB and Balancer.
        2. Ford # M06007-D347-SR with 1.5 rockers.
        3. McGunegill Ford # ASA 425LM with 1.5 rockers.
        4. Fl Limited Spec with 1.150 governor.

I know all these motor options is super confusing. I am moving down there in january and have a late model which, according to the rules everywhere can be run as a super late or pro late. the difference seemed to be the super late was an open type motor or a 9 to 1 being the preffered options for most. the pro late sounded like crate motors only with some option for 2012 being a spec motor but not after 2012....also, was told the FUP deal was straight up open motors, big pocketbooks and dont bother with it unless my budget was unlimited and if I wanted to run any type of series, the brighthouse deal was a bit more cost effective but not much. kind of like the cra versus jegs deal up north. like I said, confusing as heck to me.

so, I decided & decided to cover my bases & buy a crate, then a 9 to 1 so i could run both classes. then I was told keep the crate, run the pro late class as it had the larger count for cars and then told the opposite from others and to get a spec motor, not a 9 to 1, & go run super lates........NUTS IS ALL I CAN SAY.....LOL.

I picked up one of my crates from Harper's today & it was reccomended to stick with the crate, run pro lates & if i wanna run super lates with the crate, only do so if the weight break is at least 150 pounds & only at 1/4 & 3/8 tracks otherwise dont bother as I wont finish in top 10. I do know the 5 options is crazy to me and dont understand why they dont use crates in both with a different tire and weight rule.....that would make things alot easlier to follow or understand for anyone coming into this new....lol. Sounds like I will bring both crates, run pro lates, hope they dont allow anything but sealed, legal crates and go from there. guess if something else is needed and I have to spend a ton of money, might as well buy something that will be super good in pro lates and contending in super lates if desired to run but still dont follow why its all necccesary when it seems it could be simplified a ton, save some money for racers, draw some more cars, maybe even combine em & not be so confusing. either way, I am looking forward to getting down there & racing no matter. Im sure after a bit, I will be wondering or asking alot of the same things as you all.....lol.

Thanks for the reply, I guess I understand, sure seems like three engine builders are in and the rest are out of luck, probably a kick back to the track owners I would guess. Does any of the tracks let a open comp motor run, 355 aluminum head dry sump motor, lefthander chassis 2800# car. Thanks
