  • TGreat Group Of Drivers In This Photo

Just before driver introductions at the 1977 Governor's Cup at Golden Gate Speedway... See if you can ID all of them... Better yet, how many wins between them during their careers? That is probably impossible to figure out!

      My Guess

I think the guy knelt down in the center of the radiator is Richard Pratt .

Tom, no Richie Evans in that shot.

Randy Tissot, Billy Gill, Dave Scarborough, David Rogers, Buck Simmons, Billy Barnwell...that's about all I can name. I think BVS is right about Pratt. I don't recognize the driver behind Gill (standing at the door number), or whoever's at the driver's side.

Indeed it is Richard Pratt... On another note, why do they all seem to have the exact same firesuits??

Richie Evans didn't ever run at the Governor's Cup, let alone at Golden Gate He was a open-wheel NASCAR Modified guy, not a Late Model guy.

I *think* that's Buddy Griffin standing at the driver's door with his arms on the roof (yellow shirt).

Because back then, you *knew* who your heroes were without all them fancy-schmancy sponsor logos all over the firesuits....even your local hot shoes.

There's somebody standing behind Scarborough, too, but can't see who it is.

I don't believe that is Dave Scarborough sitting on the left front corner of the hood. Harry Gant wasn't in the line up either.

                        I'm with Trash...

I don't think that's Scarborough on the left front fender....looks more like Bob Senneker.

That is Sennecker I think.Behind Gill blue hat is Evans I am thinking. He drove late models for Pee Wee who is in the pic no fire suit. They were twin camaros beige and brown wrenched by Tom Pistone Neil Bonnet drove the other one.

Neither Evans or Bonnett ever ran the Governor's Cup... Those twin cars (#30-31) were driven in this race by Bob Castoro and Billy Elswick...
