    I do remember...

    ...those Camaros.

Walking thru the GG pits as an impressionable young lad and seeing those two well-prepared, nicely-painted race cars sitting there. I remember wondering who the two names above the doors (Castoro and Elswick) were. Being from Bradenton and in 1977 I was all of 14 yrs old, I didn't know too much aboout the South Florida racers.

They didn't do all that well on the track but they sure were haulin' ass while standing still.

    Good times.......good times.

Here is the finishing order provided by Jim Fenton, for the '77' race. I don't see Evans, Bonnett or Gant in the lineup.

My bad I got my years screwed up. Pee Wee did have 2 cars wrenched by Pistone He also had Marrio Rossi there to baby sit the motors. They were camaros biege and brown had stereo shops as sponsers and Neil Bonnet drove one I thought it was at tampa. Richie drove a nascar mod and won daytona for Pee Wee in a camaro mod that looked just like the late models.I need some help from Marty Little or Eddie Roche to help pin down the year.
        Who is behind Billy Gill??

The Griffin cars that Tom's thinkin' of, were actually "superspeedway" Modifieds, run at Daytona. They never touched a short track. Yes, Richie and Neil both drove the Griffin Camaros, but it was only at Daytona in about '79-'80 (the last year that the Modifieds ran).

Scarborough was in our car that weekend (Bob Kirk's #12). But you guys are right - now that I look at it, that looks more like Senneker on the LF fender.
