Bunkie Knudsen was not a race car drivers as far as I know, just a GM executive. Try it again. This Bunkie I am thinking of was a famous race car driver.

You don't have the name correct for Booker T. who was a dear friend of mine and my family.

Sheppard is known as "Super Matt" even though he freely uses the Superman logo. The "Superman" I'm looking for was a successful NASCAR modified driver in the Northeast.

There are still some on the original list that haven't been solved.

I met Granny many, many years ago, back in my media days, when I came down from Massachusetts for the Daytona 500 and the World Series of Stock Car Racing at New Smyrna. We had a great chat at the track before she raced that evening. Wouldn't you just know it she won that night for her, what I believe, only win of her career. After the races I congratulated her on the win. She said I should come down more often as I'm her good luck charm.

            • Brain fart moment. It was Booker T JONES I was thinking of. After he quit racing, didn't he drive the track wrecker for another couple of decades?

Went to Old Timers Day a few years back at New Smyrna Speedway. Got a chance to get together again with Ray Miller, Bugs Stevens, Leo Cleary, Ronnie Wyckoff, and a few others whose names escape me in my old age.

I knew you'd get it right. Yes, Booker drove the tow truck at Stafford Motor Speedway. One of the nicest men you could ever meet and was my Uncle Dave's very best friend.

We lost Booker back in July 2003 if memory serves me correct. I really missed not going to his garage on Walnut St. in Springfield, MA after he died. I used to go see him every week. He was so great to be around. Use to also see him a lot at Mario Fiore's garage at Gasoline Alley in Agawam, MA across from Riverside Park.
