The "Wild Bill" from midget racing was the legendary "Wild Bill" Schindler. He lost his left leg from above the knee while racing in a Champ car race in 1936 at Mineola, L.I. He raced until he died in a sprint car racing crash in Allentown, Pennsylvania in 1952. He was one of my dad's favorites and always use to talk about the legend of Bill Schindler when I was growing up. My dad use to see him race at the old Century Speedway which became the Century Shopping Plaza in West Springfield, MA

Mr Berti;
Very good again. The name Hoss Hayes was the name Elton Hildreth used when he drove outlaw tracks so he wouldn't be penalized. Elton was also known as the Wildman.
Now how about Tiny
Sonny
Air Canada
Big Al
The Candyman
Tiger Tom
Everett Express
Mixture of drivers
I also see Speed World has rained out again this evening.

Sonny - Ernest "Sonny" Hutchins, Sonny O'Sullivan, Sonny Hartley a former TBARA sprint car racer
Air Canada - Gilles Villeneuve
Big Al - Al Unser Sr.
The Candyman - Elliott Sadler
Tiger Tom - Tom Pistone, Tommy Baldwin, Tommy Sylvester
Everett Express - Gerald Chamberlain
If the rain holds off I may go to Showtime Speedway. They have the sprint cars racing tomorrow night along with the Sportsman. Figure 8 for the street stocks as well and if it is as good as it was last week that will be worth going in itself.Last edited by John Berti; 08-10-2012, 06:05 PM.

Candy Man, Don Whalen.... always drove beautiful red & white striped cars that looked like candy canes.
Cynderella is actually local LLM racer Cynthia Strehle. They had fan participation night, so she grabbed her helmet, jumped in her Cadillac, and raced. The spirit of these races is strictly amateur drivers, but she couldn't resist (plus they needed any extra cars they could get), and went by Cynderella as her alias.
Dopey.... that was just a poke at Mayfield
Doc... a few I can think of are McKinney, Hoctor, and Smith
Although Fritz Epright is correct, not many remember that's what Freddie Rahmer went by before being upgraded to Fast Freddie.
Hollywood... I was thinking local Dirt LM racer Joe Kump

Can't think of anyone for Grandpa. Do know that Bill Greco was called Gramps at the tail end of his racing career. Also drawn a blank on Boom Boom. You said it wasn't Larry Cannon.Last edited by John Berti; 08-10-2012, 09:40 PM.

Yes, watching Kenny Tremont race at Lebanon Valley Speedway was like watching a surgeon at work. He was so methodical in the way he'd work his way up through a field. Before you know it he had the lead and off he went running away from the field. The Valley's winningest driver with 96 wins and 12 track championships.

Good morn Mr Berti, Frass 118 and all
Yes Mr Berti it was Steve Evonsion. Used to love him watch the maroon coach #300 at the Park.
Here are a couple more before we head out to the races.
The Killer
Professor
Flyin' Ryan (not Newman)
The Hammer
T Mac
EPJ
King
Rebel Ross
JP
T-Bone
Flyin Fire Chief from Haverhill.
Hope the rain stays away from all tracks tonight. You mentioned Showtime tonight with the Sprints. I'll be heading (hopefully) to East bay for final chance to use my rain stubs from a couple of weeks back. East Bay Sprints, Fl Mini Sprints plus more. Should be a good show. Drive safe everyone.

Most responses were correct from my last list, with a few adjustments:
Black Jack I was looking for Jack Boggs
The Clown Prince.... was looking for 2. Jabe Thomas was the other
The Rebel I was thinking was Frank "The Rebel" Mundy
Grandpa was USAC driver from the 60's Don Branson
Rapid Roy from the Jim Croce song, was nascar driver Roy Tyner
The other Boom Boom was Florida racer Harold Cannon
The "Jiggs" you were looking for.... was it Peters?
As for T-Mac, I know at least 2. Tim McCreadie and Terry McCarl
EPJ is Earl Pearson Jr.
Steve "King" Kinser
The Hammer... again I know 2. Danny Martin Jr and Marcel LaFrance
Guess here... Flyin' Ryan Godown???

Hey Jerry! That is not the "Jiggs" I was looking for although it is a totally acceptable answer. The Jiggs I'm looking for was a driver and later car owner out of Connecticut. That should help tremendously.Originally posted by Frasson118 View PostMost responses were correct from my last list, with a few adjustments:
